I was thinking the other day, is it common to name your car?

My car now is named Gertie and the car I had before that was named Molly.

One of my good friends has a car named Tallulah and her car in college was Myrtle.

Anyone else name their car?

I laughed when I read this topic because every car my family has ever owned has had a name! (Up to this point I just thought we were nuts!) My car is named Indy!

Cute topic I''m interested in the answers

:) Rebecca

Hee! My car is named Lucy.

I love cars - crazy about them, actually. But I have never named one. I think it is because I only keep them for 3 years, and then on to the next great thing.

Mine is called Betsy - she is my first car and I love her!

I inherited my husband''s ancient car when I moved to California and had to learn to drive: in ten years, he''d never given the poor thing a name! However, that doesn''t mean that he approves of mine ... I''ve dubbed it my Ashtray, but he''s trying to retroactively tag it as Cardinal Richelieu (it is, unsurprisingly, a red car, but nevertheless a bad pun). To go with this, his new German convertible is ... wait for it ... the Red Baron. V. Snoopy. I''m calling it Catherine the Great - the historical reference is at least as valid!

BFs car is named Jessica. It''s a 2007 VW Rabbit. Get it? Jessica Rabbit?

So cheesy...

My current car doesn''t have a name but my old ''99 Pontiac Grand Am''s name was Draco. I love dragons...

My parents had a 1964 F150 named Betsy. We used her to get to the dump. She was not a happy truck...

My first car was named Heavy D, because it was a tank of a 1976 Mercedes 300D.

My next car was named Heavy E, because it was an escort, and well it followed the theme. Then someone named it the Mint Machine because it was green. That was sweet.

my car is called the PoBug

When I was little, my parents had a maroon pontiac called they called the Purple Pig. My old car was named Kermie/Kermit (my license plate was Kermee though because Kermit and Kermie were both taken). It was a little green Geo Prizm, and my dad named it. Every time I''d walk out of the door, he''d say "Take care of Kermie" instead of telling me to drive safe :)

My new car is a Nissan Versa. I just call it Versa because Versa is just fun to say. I think if I drove something else, we''d probably name it, too.

I love Preludes! Sweet car!
First thing that came to mind when I saw that color was the ocean... haa haa not sure if that helps the naming though

Miss Electra

(because of that sexy electric blue color!)

Germaine! I don''t know why...that''s just the first name that popped into my head when I saw your car.

My car is named Mandy, and my husband''s car is Bruno Puntz Jones.

Our former cars were Randall, Sydney, Butch, Davenport, and Lexi.

The Beast. We also borrow the phrase from the movie RV from time to time and call it ''The Big ''Ol Rolling Turd'' because it''s such a piece of, well, crap. I have a Ford Expedition.

We let the kids name the cars. Most of the time they are just Red Car and Blue Car. But my son often calls the blue car (a 2006 PT Cruiser) the Dirigible. We prefer the Blue Boogaloo.

I''ve had four cars in my lifetime and they''ve all had the same name: The Rubester Mama. It''s from my license plate, which is really distinctive and I''ve had the same one for the past eleven years, since I bought my first car. A friend in high school named the first Rubester, and it just stuck.

My cars have had individual names, too. My old Chevy Lumina was named Mitch, because I used to say "mi coche" over and over again and it just turned into Mitch. My Chevy Equinox was named Tommy Walker, from the rock opera, because it was just that cool of a car. My current car, a Honda Civic, doesn''t yet have its own name.

But in the end, they''re all just different versions of The Rubester Mama.

(mintve--Deco and I both have doggies named Tallulah! Mine is a ten-year-old Border Collie spitfire.)

You all have cute names for your cars. I feel lame as my car is just "the forester."

No fancy name since it''s not a fancy car. If only I could trade my car in for a cute red VW bug

We aren't exciting with our names.

We have a Saab and we call it the "Slab" (hubby nicknamed it). Hubby has a sports convertible and we call it "the Little Car" and a classic car that I call the "Old Car."

ETA: Miranda, heehee that is funny; did the kids come up w/that name?

PO you convertible is so cute; our neighbors have a convertible Mini that is super cute too!

I want to name my car, but haven''t found the perfect fit. Although, depending on if she''s acting up and I''m not in a good mood, sometimes she''s called "Piece of Sh.." LOL! I haven''t had any problems lately except for an accident that wasn''t my fault. I hope I just didn''t jinx myself! Eeeeek!

I''ve never named my own vehicles, but my parents'' vehicles always had names. Not pretty lady names though.

The following story is true.

The year, 1998, my senior year in high school. The car, 1970 Ford LTD. Not actually my car, it was my mother''s. She had no turn signals, no high beams, no brake lights, bad brakes, and no key to start her. The steering column was ripped apart and you had to start her with a screwdriver (which was conveniently held in a hole in the dash. This same key also locked our front door---details at a later time..) If you removed the floor mats, you could watch the road passing beneath you (a convenient cover for the unlawful alcohol.) The St. Bernard broke through the window of the car and ripped out the backseat. Neither the seat nor the window were replaced. (also convenient for the hand signals while turning and stopping) The name on the plate was "Bony" which my dad insisted was another spelling for "Bonnie" (my mother''s name) And, yes, she is skeletally thin. SO, the car was forever known as "the bony-mobile"

I have a ford escape and her name is Bessy.

When I was in high school I had a ford escort that was dubbed "The blue boot" by a friend.
mmmm....great memories in that car.

Ummm, well, no...It was actually me.

After watching RV I thought it would be such a fitting name for the rattletrap....Oh yeah, that''s it''s other name, Rattletrap. As you can see, I''m not particularly fond of this car.

Sports convertible? That just sounds fun, Skippy.

My first car was a 1985 Nissan Sentra (that I owned in 1994) named "Ben"--I loved that car, until somebody pulled out in front of me and it was totaled
7.gif
. My next car was my parents old 1986 Pontiac Grand Am that my boyfriend at the time named the "Whisper Jet" because it could accellerate quickly without making a sound! My current vehicle is a Dodge Durango which we bought new and has never been named....something about used cars just lend themselves to being named more than new ones....they have history!

My car doesn''t have a name but I DID name my BF''s car. I''m into REALLY stupid humor so maybe this won''t be funny to anyone else but I just about laughed myself silly when I thought of it...

He drives a Pontiac Grand Am so I named it.......... "Jean-Claude Grand Am"
