My dad named all his cars. We get it from him. When I was young he had a ''69 Chevy named Leon. My oldest sister has a Mustang named Sally (you know the Wilson Pickett song Mustang Sally- that''s where it comes from)

The ''84 Lincoln Continental he gave me was named Monster since the car was huge.

His Navigator, which my middle siste has now, is named Clifford, as in Clifford the Big Red Truck(since it''s cherry red, like Clifford the Big Red Dog- I know goofy)

My mom had a Taurus that, even though it was a mid-size, the gas and brake were amazingly responsive, so she called it Zip. I don''t know what she calls her new car.

My friend has a bright yellow VW Beetle called Bart. She has a small Bart Simpson airbrushed on the side as well.

Someone else I know has a Mini that has that unusual car paint that kind of changes color in the sun, almost like iridescent so it looks kinds of rainbow-y in the sun. He calls it the Gaymobile. Once some friends and I were going out and he was driving. He calls out in his best stereotypical gay voice- "Okay all, everyone into the Gaymobile for a real flaming ride!" We laughed so hard.

Most of our family cars have names:

My brother has a red commodore called Rex
My car is a Mazda 121 called The Bubble
Mum has a small white hatchback called Mintie
Dad has a Camry called Harry - when it was bought brand new, it was a bit ''flash'' and top-of-the-range where camrys were concerned, so my grandmother nicknamed dad a ''flash Harry'', so the name Harry stuck!

we have always named cars in our family too!

My first car was betsy (a silver VW golf), my mum had a mercedes named Daphne (no idea why she named it that), my dad had a dodge durango and my mum and I named it Fabio lol. Now they have Polly, (named after the GPS voice, who they call Polly, and its a honda pilot - polly the pilot), a mercedes that doesnt have a name yet, and a jag that is obviously called the shaguar

I have a scooter named Bob (or bobby bouche from the adam sandler movie ''the waterboy'') and BF has a scooter and its model is a ''t-rex'' obviously I call it barney.

I feel like I name everything though...especially stray animals near our house that always reappear

We don''t have clever names:

Our Jeep is "Jeepy" and our new Saab is "Saaby Wabby". Obviously, I named them :)

My bro had a Fusion Orange-colored Pontiac Grand Am a few years ago that we all called the "Cheese Wagon."

I have a silver G6 GT convertible now, a little lighter than the one in the picture here. BF has dubbed it the "Babemobile."

So cheesy...

My current car doesn''t have a name but my old ''99 Pontiac Grand Am''s name was Draco. I love dragons...
ROFL I love the idea!

I have a friend named Tara who has a blue Prelude. Whenever I see one, I think of her.

First car was a green 97 Honda Civic named Carzilla. He however got eaten by Chevy in 2002

No name for my current car.

I have a black Jeep Liberty Limited and her name is Lady Liberty. I''m oh so original!

I got my first-ever new car last year that we sometimes call "Sharkey" because of the little antenna-fin thing on the roof. (volvo)

My parents are more fun: Their 1966 two-seater mercedes is "The Little Car." My dad had a 1977 Ford baby-blue long-bed pickup named ''Ol Blue. My mom''s old mercedes wagon was "Baby" and my sister and I have no idea why. Now they have an Isuzu Rodeo called "the chipper" because it makes the chirp sound when you unlock it by remote key.

My dad named my brother-in-law''s commuter car. It''s a volvo 950 sedan with almost-illegal-black-tint (he bought it used on Oahu -- he''s Navy and they needed something for their 1 year tour) -- so it''s called The Black Mariah.

What great names everyone! Thanks for sharing!

My family never really named cars, but DH and I have had a few interesting names.

My first car is a 1965 Mustang, forest green, and it''s now called the Green Mustang. My husband has a 1966 Mustang called the Silver Mustang, and then we have a 1966 Mustang that we''re restoring and will re-sell, it''s the White Mustang (real original, I know.)

But it get''s better!

Our 1967 Bronco (no roof, no doors, off-road vehicle) is the "Purple Chevy Eater", guess what color it is

Barney Purple!
I had a Plymouth Sundance a few years back that my sister dubbed the Stupid Car, it was pretty bad. My 2000 Pontiac Sunfire 4-door tan car was the Camoflage Car, it would just blend in with the surroundings of other tan 4-doors. My 2004 Hyundai Tiburon was the Little Blue Vroom Vroom.

And DH''s 2002 Ford F-350 4-door huge tires big lifted truck is The Beast, I even have that on his front license plate.

My new Car is a Hyundai Sante Fe, it doesn''t have a name yet though...

I was a band geek in High School, and named all the instruments I played, that was fun.

My car answers to Gizmo

Just thought of another! My friend''s mom has a Daewoo hatchback (do they still MAKE those? I remember it was literally the most inexpensive new car I''d ever heard of) that my friend''s guy friends named "Da Woo." I crack up when I think of my friend''s mom driving around in "Da Woo."

Their slogan over here used to be "that'll be the day-oo" - always made me giggle! Such a great slogan

They sell them as Chevys here now. EuroNCAP (EU vehicle safety testing body) expressed serious concerns over their safety so they don't have a great name. And they're not as cheap as Hyundai or Kia would be over here.

Interesting!! Whenever I travel abroad, I''m always so interested by the vehicles - what companies do to change models, etc. When I was in Italy about 10 years ago, the Smart Car was relatively new, and now my MIL''s BFF is on the waitlist to get one as they''re about to be introduced in the US (safety standards have been quite the hang-up because of their size). I went nuts when I was in Barbados and saw my car (Nissan Tiida in most countries, Versa in the US) a few times - 2007 was when my car was introduced here, but it had been in Japan and Australia for awhile, so I was looking on all sorts of different websites to get user reviews. I especially loved watching the different commercials - SO different than the boring ones we have!

I love doing that too Elmorton! All your Toyota saloons are different for example. Our biggest saloon is the Camry. And it''s very rare to see one on the roads. Most people buy the Avensis if they want a big Toyota saloon! And we''ve had the Tiida in Ireland since 2005 - examples!

Ummmm, piece of sh**t! We''ve had this grand-am ever since we got married and it''s about 15 years old. Love the car! It''s been great until about a year ago. We just need it to last a couple more years!!!
