I didn't vote because I'm not sure how I feel. I got my ears double pierced in college and wore earrings in my second holes until a few months before my wedding. I didn't think wearing two sets of earrings look wedding-appropriate, so I let the second holes close up. I might be able to fit earrings in again if I tried hard, but I think I'm over the look.

I don't think it's unprofessional but it might just depend on the situation and/or what you're dressing for.

ETA -- Haven, for some reason, that surprises me. You have tattoos, multiple piercings (which included your TONGUE)?! I never would have pictured that.

If you like the look, do it! I have 6 holes in one ear and 4 in the other...Cummon, I was an 80s child! I only wear earrings in the bottom hole now and very very occasionally tiny earrings in the second. I''m sure the other holes have closed up now.

I would never classify anyone as cheap simply because they have two earring holes.

Ha ha. It''s because I''m one of those well-mannered rebels who carries her etiquette guide in her army fatigue backpack.

Sizzle--Made a decision yet?

I guess I am older and very traditional, so I have never considered having more than one hole per ear. My 23 year old does have double piercings, but she wears tiny diamonds in the second holes which looks nice.

I agree with the others who suggested wearing smaller earrings in the second set of holes. My personal rule is that I don''t wear anything in my second set if I''m wearing studs of any kind in my first set of holes, and if I wear dangly earrings or hoops in my first set, then I wear very small diamond studs (0.25 ctw only) in my second set. I think the key to pulling off a professional look in the office isn''t necessarily about whether you have one set of piercings or two, but about understatement in what you wear on your ears.

Double piercings would barely be noticed in my office, but a .5 ct stud is a quite bit too large for the upper holes, IMHO.

I voted no, mainly because I had second holes pierced when I was in my late teens, wore earrings for a few years, then haven''t since. However, on the professionalism issue, I don''t think it''s inappropriate if the earrings are tasteful. I think 2 pairs of nice classy earrings look a lot better than say a single pair of big hooker hoops.

Tastefully done, I think it looks great. I have 3 piercings in each lobe and use them all, mostly. Working in a jewellery shop, my boss is thrilled that I can actively advertise so many earrings all at once!!

Hah! Love it!

i have had multiple holes in my ears, now i only wear one in each. and the holes aren''t forever, mine have all closed. my husband had a bunch of earrings too,(he did it after getting out of the marine corps., he also grew his hair long-a rebellion thing maybe?!) his holes have closed up (thank god-not into men wearing jewelry, except wedding band and watch) but he does have little scars where the holes were.

I used to have multiple holes, and I guess I'm blessed in that the ones I stopped using completely healed over with no trace at all. My MIL was staunchly against double piercings. My daughters wanted them and got them, and she verbally disapproved. Guess what? In her late 50's, MIL got them too, so she could wear diamond studs in them!

Since she is so very conservative, I take that as definite approval and would say that it is not unprofessional at all.

I got a second piercing two years ago. Actually, I did it myself, because I wanted to wear a pair of tiny (.10 ctw) that my husband had given me back when we were married.
since I was doing it myself, I put the second hole very close to the first, I figured that way when I wanted to wear just one earring in each ear, the second hole would be covered up. I don''t like the look of one earring and one empty hole, that''s just me. Anyway, I found this worked great and I''m happy I did it this way, since last year my hubby upgraded my .10 ctw to 2 ctw and I wear the 1 ct in each most days now. They are very substantial and I wouldn''t wear another earring with them.
However, I do make sure sure that when I take them out at night, I put in my smaller earrings to keep the second hole open. It HURT to pierce my ears that second time and I don''t want it to close up. And I do still like to wear the two earrings sometimes. I think the tiny diamonds look especially nice right next to my pearl earrings and next to this lovely pair of huggies I have in 22K gold.

I have two piercings in each ear. I either wear diamond studs, .42 ct each per piercing, or a stud in the top hole and a diamond or other drop earring in the bottom hole. I also have .50 ctw diamond studs that I can wear in the top holes, if I want a different look. Nothing OTT. I work in a very conservative hospital setting. We have a dress code that includes piercings. Two piercings per ear is considered acceptable and professional.

I adore piercings but I do think that the hoops and the studs might be a bit too much. I''d probably try and wear smaller studs in one of the piercings.

Hmmm...It depends on the industry. I have 2 piercings in each ear, and normally wear very small hoops (no posts or anything, just a circle of metal with a tiny hinge in it) in my second hole, and rarely wear earrings in my first hole.

I used to have a total of 16 piercings in my ears though, so I'm much more conservative than I used to be.

ETA: I happen to know a dude who has his ears gauged 00 (really big holes--like over an inch diameter) and he wants to be an attorney. I personally think that he's going to have to do something about those holes before he does that.

I voted YAY!

I have triple piercings. 3 holes in each lobe...I love them. I don''t wear expensie earrings. Silver sleepers (small hoops) in the first hole and silver and cz studs in the other 2 holes. The only trouble I have is that I sometimes knock out the top stud when brushing my hair etc. I end up searching the bathroom floor for ages trying to locate the butterflies!

I don''t get that look AT ALL. I see the same guy in my area every once in a while with his ears gauged too. I think he works at the grocery store or some other place I do errands. I do think that looks totally unprofessional and unattractive. Why would anyone do that?

My mom always had double piercings so she let me get mine in 5th grade. I liked them up until about 2 years ago. I feel classier with just 1 pair of earrings in but thats just me. But I don''t think anything of it if OTHERS have double piercings.

I have double piercings, and have never had anyone call them unprofessional. Well, maybe my mother, but she''s come around.

I see a lot more women, of many ages with double piercings. And if for some reason you are ever in a situation where you felt one pair more appropriate - you can always just wear earrings in your first holes.

funny! My mom actually actually suggested that i got doubles. she had them too!

but ditto to this - sometimes i''ll wear both sets, and other times only one.

I''ve got double piercings and in no way have ever or will ever feel it is unprofessional. I''m not a blingy girl either. I wear tiny white gold balls in the second holes that I will eventually replace with .5 cttw studs and I wear VERY small hoops in the first hole. The only other bling I wear on a daily basis is my engagement ring, which is a solitaire.
