Mmm, Paris! I think somebody on PS got whisked off to Paris to get engaged before. Not happening to me! Honeymoon?

Judging from your user name, maybe while you are Kayaking? Of course, the ring will have to be tied to yourself to keep from falling in the water

Deelight, I hope your BF fulfills the Europe dream for us!
Choro I do remember someone getting whisked off to Paris for their proposal! What a great proposal! One of my friends also got engaged over there. It''s such a beautiful city!

And, yes I would definatly love to get proposed to while kayaking! However, I would probibly fall out of the boat! (It wouldn''t be the first time... A couple of months ago we were kayaking in a mangrove inlet and started heading straight for a spiderweb! Needless to say I tipped the kayak over and my poor boyfirend sprained his ankle trying to get us upright again... hahahaha. Not very romantic!)

I know he has something up his sleave and I''m sure it will be great... even if I do fall into water! It would certainly be a story!

I just LOVE this thread! It''s funny how different everyone''s idea of a perfect proposal is.

I think with my dream proposal, I wouldn''t want anything too planned out or formal. It wouldn''t really go with our style to go to a super fancy restaurant with candles and flower petals everywhere.

Instead, I would want it to feel kind of spur of the moment (even if it WAS actually planned) in a location that is significant in our relationship.

When we first started dating, we went to this hole in the wall diner on a Sunday morning. It kind of became our "place" to relax after a busy weekend and we just sit and talk about anything and everything. We go there so often that we have a usual table and a usual waitress who knows what we''re going to order. I think being proposed to there would be so meaningful.

OR, when we were just friends (we both knew it was developing into something more), we were walking along a pretty path on campus (we were in college) late at night. We passed a beautiful patch of wildflowers. He picked one for me and then grabbed me and kissed me. We''ve been together ever since.

Also, we go on picnics a lot where we go get a bucket of KFC and sit at a pretty place along the river. That would be nice too.

Basically, something very simple that feels like "us."

A hot air balloon ride overlooking the beach, on vacation... just something amazing that wouldn''t happen everyday. I know this sounds cheesy but I would also love to have a card expressing his love for me, so if we dont have a camera on hand or something, I would love to have that as a reminder of our special day. I also would like to be taken away after the proposal (out of town/vacation) b/c I just want to enjoy that time and be blissfully happy alone together.

Well my perfect proposal WAS this...

My guy and I are Disneyland freaks, we go maybe 3 times a year and we love it. For a long time my perfect engagement would have been in front of Sleeping Beauty''s castle (my all time favorite movie, literally my first full sentence as a child was "Touch the spindle, touch it I say..."

The problem is that my boyfriend made the mistake of sharing his plan with my roommates boyfriend and guess what happened? Not only did he do the exact same thing before my boyfriend even had a chance but he also bought my roommate the engagement ring that my boyfriend and shown him he wanted to get me. Needless to say all of my dreams and plans changed and we are keeping all ideas a secret from these people!

Now, I realize that my perfect proposal would be somewhere beautiful and quiet, just the two of us, and just a simple exchange of words. I figure that having a wedding is such a public, hectic production that I''d like to just have a quiet moment with the love of my life. It sure takes a lot of stress of of him :)

aspromised, that sucks!!!

Do you think your boyfriend can still incorporate the Castle idea? Even if some guy stole his idea, there is no reason your boyfriend should forgo his original idea completely...Especially since it sounds like it means so much more to you...

Mine would be something akin to the following. -
On a friday afternoon I come home to the bags packed, and he tells me we are going on vaca. We load up and he hauls my happy hiney to the beach, to our traditional condos outside of St. Augustine. We spend the evening enjoying the beach and pool. The next day we go downtown and see all the historical relics and do some shopping, and that night he takes me out for a romantic dinner, and a carriage ride. Somewhere along the way (maybe at dinner) he asks me). The next day we lounge on the beach before going home.

It''s probably not going to happen that way. The other would be for him to ask me either a) at the local mud race center where we met (how my big redneck wedding is that?!) or where we had our first date. But even then, dunno if he''ll go that far. I''d be happy with anything to be honest. I imagine even us going to our favorite hiking trail and him asking me right at the top of the bluff overlooking the prairie. Who knows. He might just ask while I''m mucking stalls HAHA
