Hey everyone... ok so I bought my dress back in March for my destination wedding in Jamaica on 2-8-10. I got it from flippin'' David''s Bridal of all places. I honestly loved it in the store but I wasn''t ready to make the purchase because I wanted to keep looking but then the sales lady told me it would take possibly 4 months for my dress to come in. Yeah right, I got it seriously 3 weeks later. I think that might have been part of her salespitch.. well it worked on me because it made me feel like I HAD to buy it then. Anyway... the more I try the dress on and look at it on me the more I want to change things about it. I feel like the top part of the dress doesn''t do much for me and I want it to be a little bit sexier. Afterall we are getting married on the beach. I don''t want it to be superlow cut or anything but at least at little bit different then it is. I might have it altered into a strapless. I found a lady who would do it (DB won''t because it would be altering the design of the dress) and she said it would cost anywhere from $400+. I really don''t want to spend that much money for it to be altered because we are getting married in the morning and then doing the trash the dress session so I''m not planning on wearing it in the evening at all. I guess I''m just bored with the dress and starting to pick at little stuff about it. So please give me opinions of what you guys thing. Should I keep it and alter it into a strapless and pay the $, keep it and leave the dang thing alone.... or try and sell it?

pics would help lol

I think its beautiful just the way it is. And it is sexy! If you''re doing a trash the dress shoot (I am too!) I would keep it the way it is, looks great! and then get a reception dress to suit your needs more!

if you don''t love it, my personal opinion would be to sell it and buy another one, for $400 more, you could probably buy one that you do love, you have a great figure and i don''t think this dress does anything for it

my dress did take almost four months to arrive, so it could also depend on timing and not just the sales pitch

i think it looks great on you!

oh gosh, i just looked up trash the dress

, can you sell the dress and look for something cheaper and more flattering

I personally think the dress it beautiful. It looks great on you and will be perfect for a wedding on the beach. However, if you do decide to get another dress I would do it soon, because my dress really did take four months to get in. Although it wasnt from davids bridal, sometimes they really do take that long. It is normal to have second thoughts about your dress, the decision is yours, but I think yours in beautiful.

If you want my opinion, I think the dress is just beautiful the way it is. I think it IS sexy enough for a beach wedding without being too revealing. You have a great figure and the dress looks fine on it! I think the only thing that distracts me is that the detail across the middle sits right at the hips rather than th waist. But other than that, I say leave it as it is!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I really appreciate it. I''m going to see the seamstress on Saturday to see what she says but honestly if I could sell it and start over, I would probably just do that. I initially wanted something lightweight/chiffon etc. but my Mom, Grandma and sister all loved this dress one me. (They came with me to look at DB) They probably influenced my decision as well as the sales lady. I''m such a sucker. LOL

I wish the dress was more lightweight and chiffon or lacy... I feel like the top part of the dress is too solid/constricting and not flexible to my figure if that makes any sense at all.

Part of me is thinking to just keep it and stop driving myself crazy but the other part is saying you aren''t happy with your wedding dress women so change it!!!

If I could have any dress in the world it would be Maggie Sottero''s "Eleanor" have you seen it? OMG it''s amazing!!!!

Final decision is yours, but I love that dress on you

! It hugs your bust and accentuates your waist and I just personally think it will look great for your beach wedding. Another thought, if you want to make it more sexy you could see about making it a more pronounced mermaid. I think it''d give you a Jessica Rabbit silhoutte and I think Jes Rabbit is smokin

! Then go ahead and have a more sexy dress for your cocktail/reception. If you want to change it into strapless instead of a halter, maybe you could have a sweatheart neckline. It''ll give you that slight dip in the front (maybe wouldn''t be too much of a drastic change hence cost less) which you already have with the halter. Good luck!

that''s what i was thinking too in terms of material, the material on your dress now just doesn''t seem to ''sit'' well if that makes any sense

the maggie sottero eleanor is lovely and a totally different style from the one you currently have

You guys all rock!!! Can you come with me to my consultation on Saturday to help me out!!!!???!!!! LOL

ficklefaye- I totally agree. It''s not my dream material that''s for sure. Argh...

Yeah, Eleanor is amazing!!! :)

dani, because you have a great figure, any dress would look fantastic on you, so maybe that's why everyone loved it on you even tho it may not exactly have been the one you would have chosen, it happens, right?

I think that dress is incredibly gorgeous on you, and the cut of that halter has the sexy feel you''re going for.

My older sister says the same as a lot of you guys are about the dress already being sexy. I don''t know. Thanks so much for the help.

I think it looks great on you! I don''t think you should alter it.

Here''s a pic I took with my cell phone a couple weeks ago tucking the straps in to see how the strapless would look... what do you guys think? It was taken at my Grandma''s lol so sorry about the background. She is storing all my wedding stuff for me :)

I love this dress...I actually tried it on me-self & almost bought it when we were going to do a Vegas wedding.
I think it''s very sexy as it is but the strapless looks great too! Sorry not much help...
If you really see yourself in something else, keep trying to sell it and get a dress that YOU want. I vote going to see what else is out there and if you like another dress give yourself time to really think it over and visualize the two dresses on your day.
Good luck!

Wow! I definitely like that! Now, the bottom kinda looks like it needs something...maybe modified mermaid? If you really don''t see yourself getting married in this dress, keep trying to sell it while you look for another one that would be more you. I can''t imagine this dress not making someone very happy on their day.

I really like the idea to see if it can be modified into a more mermaid style. That''s my fave I found out so I''m definitely going to keep that in mind when I go see the seamstress Saturday. Thanks so much for that idea guys. :)

It looks better than I thought it would with the straps tucked in. I think it''s gorgeous either way though.

imho i think it looks better with the straps - it is still sexy and again, imo, it looks like it fits better. i think if you are going to make that many changes to the dress, then you might want to start taking a second look.

i agree, i think if you are making that many changes, maybe you can find a dress that has all these concepts AND in the material you want

I agree with you guys too. I just need to sell it first.. LOL I won''t be a 2 dress bride, I won''t be a 2 dress bride, I won''t be a 2 dress bride... ARGH LOL

technically, three dress bride since you will also have a reception dress, ok i kid

I think the dress is beautiful and sexy on you just the way it is. Personally I think you''re having cold feet about your dress. What I suggest is for you to think back on the day that you fell in love with it and remember all of those feelings. Maybe you''ll fall in love with it all over again.
