GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS! I think the neckline looks fine, and darling, you look incredible in that dress!

I adore the back, it is absolutely stunning.

I think you''re neither take it too seriously nor not seriously enough--you have a bit of an issue with the height of the neckline and it is nagging at you, which makes total sense. Definitely see how it looks after the rest of the dress is altered, and then we''ll go from there! Personally, I think the neckline looks great the way it is. I have single dollies, but I prefer to have them hidden as much as possible!

Hi there Independent Gal! I saw your post last weekand I have been meaning to respond. I have the same dress - at least it looks nearly identical from the pics. I could not decide whether to make the neckline slightly sweetheart or to leave it straight across. I had trouble with the top fitting properly since I am a small chested gal, so in the end I decided to take a few stitches in the middle and make it into a slightly sweetheart neckline. I had double pads in and still had trouble holding it up! I''m attaching some pics so you see what I mean. I love the dress, the lace, the train, and it looks so great on you. You look fantastic!

The first pic is the before pic

Ok This is the after pic so you can see the sweetheart neckline. I''m trying to find a better one up close but I don''t have many pics here at work. I don''t know how this pic is going to upload. It''s one of the pro pics.

Maybe you can see the top better in this pic but I am hamming it up bigtime. Oh well.....

As far as hemming the dress, my seamstress told me she was going to hem my dress from the bottom (I''m short). She decided to take it up at the waist (without asking). When I went to get the dress, the scallop lace border that was previously down around my upper thigh area was now moved up and meeting the first scallop lace border at the waist. It''s hard to see from the pics but the first scallop border of lace was now starting at my waist and going around to just below my rear in the back instead of starting at my thigh area and then going down to somewhere near my knees (like yours fits now). At first, I thought she ruined it. I was very, very upset because she did not ask me before doing it. Talk about nerve! But then I decided it wasn''t too bad and no one else would really notice it. My mom said she kind of liked it and there was nothing that could be done to put it back the way it was anyway. I just couldn''t believe she did that without asking as it totally changed the look of the dress.

You made a good choice in deciding not to have it hemmed!

Yay! I have a dress twin! I remember your wedding pics, but totally didn''t remember that we have the same dress.

It looks great with the sweetheart neckline. I''ll keep that in mind when I go to fitting 2.

Thanks so much for posting, FL Girl.

Now I can check out how you accessorized and stuff too.

ACtually, FL, can I ask you a slightly indelicate question? How much did you pay for your dress? I''m planning to sell this after the wedding, and I''ve got an estimate of around how much it probably cost new, just from other Stephen Yearick gowns, but I''d love to know the actual retail price in case a possible buyer asks.

If you''d rather not say, I completely understand!

Actually, mine is not s Stephen Yearick. It''s by Symphony Bridals, number 1197. I was a bit confused by this as they look nearly identical. I paid $250 in sale at a local shop, but I did find it on line for as much as $699 at one point.

Wow, so you did even better than I did! They really are nearly identical aren''t they? Lucky you!

Geez, sorry about the typos in my last message. I was on my way out the door and trying to respond quickly. Yes, I think I got a pretty good deal on the dress and it was exactly what I was looking for. It''s a beautiful dress and it looks gorgeous on you! I wonder if the Symphony is a knockoff of the Yearick? Yours dress might be of better quality. It sure looks beautiful on you!

It must be a knock-off! But, I mean, who cares? Who would know? And yours is just as beautiful. Maybe close up the fabric or beading on mine would look more chi-chi, but geez, who''s going to be looking that close?
