So many dresses

. This might be a strange question, but how come the dresses at David''s bridal are so non-expensive? The dress I posted ontop, and the one''s I''m going to post, are $5000+ so what determines the price of a wedding gown??? I''m confused. I think I''m going to end up with a Lazaro gown. I''m always attracted to their gowns (even if they won''t look good on me

) Two more that I like

Another. A good 5'5 and 4 inch heels would help a lot

. I like the blue flowers.

Ally - Davids Bridal dresses are cheap because they are mass produced and made from inexpensive fabrics. If you order from Lazaro, they will make your dress when you order it. Its still made from the same pattern as all their other dresses, but they don''t make like a million at a time like davids does. Also all of their dresses are from synthetic fabrics (nothing wrong with that, my dress is too!)- polyester mostly.. Lazaros are most likely made from silks.
Do they even have Davids Bridal in canada? If not don''t get attached to any of their dresses, because they don''t sell them anywhere else.

Oh, and I love all the dresses you posted. Especially the most recent one

I really do not think you need to be tall to wear a ballgown. I told you about my short friend (she''s 4''11".. and that might be generous) and her big poofy dress. She looked BEAUTIFUL.

I guess I don''t really understand a dress making you look short. To me, it seems that height is something very relative.. If you stand next to a tall person, you will look the same amount of short, no matter what you are wearing. :) I sort of understand a line dresses giving the illusion of elongation and stuff... but still

And also.. what is wrong with looking short? Its not like being short is a bad thing. I am "average" height (5''6").. and there is this picture of me with these three shorter girls.. and let me tell you, they are not the ones who should be concerned about how they look. They all look cute and little and i look like a MASSIVE GIANT!

Hey Melissa Sue,

Yes, I''m liking the last one more and more. I wish I could see the bottom of it.

I like ball gowns, but when I tried on a ball-gownish bridesmaid dress I looked like a little girl playing dressup (that''s what I''m realy afraid of........) not as much looking short but wearing something that doesn''t flatter (too mature/not enough mature) blah blah blah...usual wedding gown worries. Basically, my plan is to pick out a dress, bring a picture, try it on, and if it''s decent, buy it.

So material is the only difference in dresses? I''m not much of a material girl, but I love Lazaro''s designs, so why not. Ok. I just did a quick search of lazaro, anticipating problems with finding it, but there''s one boutique in Montreal that stocks it!!! Ok ladies, as soon as my e-ring arrives from it''s repairs, I think I''ll make an appointment

Melissa, 5''6 is NOT massive. It''s a great height! I''d switch!

I think you will be surprise. Like I said previously I am short (5''1") and am often mistaken for any age between 16-20 (I''m 25). I did NOT feel like I was playing dress-up. I probably won''t even wear heals above 3" (2.5" more like it) and my FI is 6''0"ish. I want to be comfortable though and having my feet hurt because of heels is not my idea of fun.

Imagine your hair done, mack-up beautiful...you will look like an adult. I promise.

I was very close to going with a Lazaro dress--his stuff is fantastic. (Lazaro actually worked for the designer of my dress, Richard Glasgow, before starting his own company--so I''m partial!)

Since you are interested in ball gowns (and don''t mind going for an expensive dress), have you thought much about going the Reem Acra route? I''ve seen plenty of petite brides look great in even her more substantial designs... I''m sure if a dress didn''t include pink/blue detailing, you could have it added.

I''d also consider going the totally custom route. It''s less expensive than you''d think and with Montreal being such a great clothes/shopping city, I''m sure it would be easy to find a talented, hip seamstress.
