Earring dilemma (and throw in a 3-stone ring to the mix)

What should I do for my earrings?

My suggestion is to trade in your 3 BGD diamonds (all except for the 2.3 Blue) for the 2.2 G VS-2 and 2.2 G SI-1 signature diamonds that they have on their website to make a brand new pair that you would be happy with since your J colored studs were too tinted. Put the 3 stone on hold for now until you get your studs squared away.

Bingo!!!! :appl: Take care of the earrings first! You were not happy with the J's so don't take them back! 2.2 cts is HUGE on the ears!

I know, DS. It'd be the option with the least hassle. But pls see my reply to mom2boys above. I am too much of an accountant to go this route, lol!

sell me the 2.65 H stone.

Thanks for all the votes and replies, everyone.

Just a sidenote: I think my putting the earrings and the 3-stone ring into one thread is prob a bit too confusing. I know when I read posts, I usually (but not always) spend something like 20-30 seconds on each post; and if a post has too much data and too many figures, I might actually skip it. It must be the same for other people. So I really appreciate those who took the time to read my initial post and give me your votes and input.

I've made up my mind: I am not willing to shell out more $$$ to get yet another pair that may not be my most preferred option. So am going to take the J's back. It is settling, yes but only for a while (even if "a while" means 2-3 years). I did love wearing them when I had them before, just got it in my head that they're a bit too warm, esp when compared to Holly; but nobody IRL really knows that, except me lol! :wink2:

In the LR, I'll get a pair of earrings my heart most desires, especially as my other diamonds sell and some of that money is freed up. It's going to take a long time, I know, but I have plenty of patience (as you may know - it did take me 6 years to get Holly).

RE the 3-stone ring, as mentioned I shall take my time planning for that (perhaps better to do so once one or more of my loose diamonds are sold). Thanks again to those who suggested this.

yup, beautiful stone, small table with a high crown...

Thank you, DF. It's a little firecracker, that's for sure!!

It's also very clean (not just eyeclean). The clouds and feather are right by the edge of the stone and somewhat difficult to locate, even with a 10x loupe...amazing SI2! :appl:

Yes, it is hard to think reasonably without wearing the proper earrings. So best to get that taken care of first.

Phoenix, I do not know what to say but I think Ame has it right, you do not want to settle and will be unhappy later if you do but I understant it is sooooo hard to wait, 4 months??? yuck! That is too long already, I do have to say what Donnabrsd said above is the funniest thing ever and I am going to use it the next time DH wants to talk about something I do not want to talk about, Sorry honey, I don't have the proper earrings on, it's hard to think reasonably :wavey: Good luck with whatever you decide Phoenix, your collection is tdf and am excited to see what you do with these stones, a three stone would be divine

I agree, Phonenix. You don't want to settle for yet another pair that isn't exactly right. I do think it would be good if you'd list all the stones you are selling on the pre-loved forum because sometimes someone here is looking for a 2+ ct. stone and we might be able to steer them in that direction. If Perry has them, will he just take a percentage if you sell one yourself? He is probably trying to sell them at retail which is a slower process. And since some (all?) of those stones were probably bought before 2011, you should be able to discount them and not lose money.

None of the above. All are settling, none are truly what you want.

Yes, taking the J's back would be settling. But what do I do in the meantime, my ears are nikked and they're cold...buuuurrrr!! :wink2:

Anyway, the J's would be sold eventually and I'd get the earrings I would most prefer eventually, even if "eventually" means several years.

Thank you for your input.
For me you just put on some earmuffs til the right stuff comes along. OR you go with the trade it all in option. But settling isn't worth it. Get exactly what you want, don't waste the money if it's not what you want.

I do think this is smart. The more attention and marketing you can do of the stones you want to move, the better they'll move. Don't just rely on one sales method.

Yes, donnabrsd's comment is very funny and witty. It's gonna used liberally around here for sure. :appl:

Thank you for your lovely and kind comments. I hope I'll have an update for you all soon. I just found something that may be a match to the 2.656ct. So stay tuned. :wink2: :))

Thank you, Ame. Thank you, DS.

I have been wanting to list them on Pre-loved, that's for sure. I was just waiting for BGD to come back with a match to one of my stones. I just didn't want to list some stones for sale, only to have to pull them after a short while.

As mentioned in my post just above this one, I may have an update re a matched pair soon. After that, I shall list the stones available for sale.

Oh no, I was actually a little worried that someone might find my thread confusing b/c of all the stones involved. :blackeye:

I am not stressed, seriously I am not - I swear! :)) DIamonds are fun and I enjoy wearing them very very much. I just a bit frustrated (not stressed), not least b/c I sent too many stones to Perry. I think I under-estimated how long/ how hard it'd be for Brian to get a match for the 2.656 or the 2.374.

Sorry you have a cold. Hope you get better soon.

Sorry, my brain was frozen yesterday! It's all a bit confusing, either way, but I'm the type that would just trade EVERYTHING in for two new stones that match. But, I don't know the details and it's probably entirely different when the diamonds have been shipped to another country and (possibly) originally purchased by various vendors. Good luck!

ETA - and I just read more and see that you would be paying more to trade the stones in and not get bigger earrings or will have to settle for the J colored ones. I would think it's best just enjoying your J stones and having real diamonds on your ears!

Oh, that would be great if they have found you a match! Keeping fingers crossed for you!

Well, the "match" is not from BGD. It's not an identical clone, but close enough (for earrings anyway) and should be mind - clean enough for me. AND I wouldn't have to cough up an awful lot of moolah either. :appl:

Thank you, DS.

The match can come from anywhere! So that sounds promising!

Well, I am waiting for a close-enough match to the 2.656ct. I actually found it earlier on today and when I came back from dinner, there was an email from the relevant vendor saying they think the "match" should be a good one. Am keeping my fingers and toes crossed!! If THIS doesn't work out, I am for sure taking the J's back.

LOL!

Well, initially, being pedantic I wanted a very very tight matched pair - so I wanted both to come from BGD and for all the specs to match, but that was soooo hard and I waited for sooooo long - longer than what I've been posting about on here. But for earrings they really don't have to be identical clones.

We shall see.... :wink2: :))
