Earrings idea... thoughts?

@Obscura that’s a terrific idea! I’ll wait until I receive the pearls then get Daniel M to help me with the accents.

I suspect I am currently being a menace. But it has occurred to me that the only time you will see these earnings is likely to be in the bathroom, doing your hair or washing up your hands/teeth etc.

So make sure whatever accents you get look good in bathroom lighting. Same goes for the pearls as much as possible, make sure they hold their undertones and overtones well in bathroom lighting (which can be a little harsh).

I say this having a gorgeous pair of colour change sapphire earrings. I am profoundly lucky that they lean on the blue side even under fluorescent lighting. As I don't like purple, and it never occurred to me that the indoor lighting colour was going to be the more important of the two. Ofcourse when I bought them I oohed-and-ahhed over the lovely blue daylight colour with the perfect slight impression of purple, and almost ignored the 1 single vendor photo of the stones under indoor lighting. Guess what I see in person most of the time? ( hahahaha I feel like a dunce admitting this! As it is so obvious in retrospect.).

UPDATE:
I have received the pearls - gorgeous but bigger than I expected! Worried the stones may get “lost” in this equation.... thoughts?

Pics in this light don’t do the pearls justice - really stunning IRL, think sunshine will look even better!

Great idea. I'd probably try two mismatched spinels, or two mismatched tourmalines, I heard from someone that these concepts work better in stones with similar RI. However, they are on top of the earrings, so maybe, not so important.

Good luck with the earrings!

ETA: I plan to recut different spinels into the stones of similar shape. Also, I bought two cheap very light-colored spinels on ebay, and I suppose that instead of mismatched demantoids, matched round light-colored small spinels might work better. JMO.

Gorgeous! It’s really hard to capture the personality of pearls.

I have baroque drops that size, although the pearls definitely have big presence irl distance, I think you can still pick up the spinels. I even had my bulkier silver leverbacks changed to 14k white gold wire for a more just the drop look, I think it makes a difference.

You could do small halo to bring more attention if that’s what you think needs to happen. Keep in mind that pearls are heavy in that size, mine are barely comfortable for me to wear for more than half a day.

Hmmm @Rubybrick looking at your lovely earrings, I agree it seems unlikely the gemstones will be visible from a distance. May need to rethink this whole project or order new smaller pearls. This is meant to be something not too big or "fancy" so I can feel comfortable wearing them daily to the office.

UPDATE: Hey Daniel M just finished these earrings and I am beyond thrilled!

I ended up buying some 6mm round Amethysts to use instead and I'm glad I did. (Will use the EC's for another project).

What do you think?
