I guess ppl don't know better.
And stone MAY NOT BE natural

Why would you think its not real? Its small, not particularly well cut, and if you look at the picture on the report, it does not look nearly as saturated as it does in their photo, which, unsurprisingly, looks like the saturation has been amped up. Bidding hasn't closed and you don't know where the price will end. I guess my question to you - why would you be surprised that they had good feedback?

You may want to look at their feedback on toohaus.org. It tells a different story...

I am sure the stone has been flooded with light. Look at the IGI memo to see the lab's picture of the tanzanite. It has a gaping window where light leaks straight through and the rest of the stone is much darker and grayer.

There is what appears to be a chip visible in the first picture at about 2:30. You can see it in other pictures as well. A high proportion of the toolhaus complaints mention chips and cracks, which makes me wonder about the source of the stones. Plus there are some comments about people not getting their stone and seeing it relisted at a higher price. If the price of the stone is too low, the seller can bid on his own stones with a side account, win the auction, leave himself positive feedback, and relist the stone until he gets the price he wants. All pretty standard on e-bay, unfortunately.

Compare the photo on the IGI report to the Vendor's photos. The IGI photo shows a dreadful windowed gemstone of not great colour. The Vendor has manipulated his/her sales photo on Ebay to edit out the window and ramp up the saturation. If you buy this stone (and I would advise against it) you'll get a stone that isn't worth anything other than fish tank gravel.

Yup, which explains the negative track record on toolhaus and presents yet another example of why people should check toolhaus before purchasing. Thanks TL for teaching me that! :wavey:

I only downloaded 5% of the toolhaus record and there was already a huge list!!

Yeah. I've been wondering the same thing about the eBay vendors. Why should I waste my time with the PS preferred vendors when I can get a RARE! 10.38 CT CUSHION TOP PADPARADSCHA SAPPHIRE AFRICA AAA++ for $30 or a 4.50 CT NATURAL BLUE SAPPHIRE OVAL SHAPE (it's actually an emerald cut hahahaha!) for $8.50?

;-)

Actually I have bought a few things on eBay that I really like. The first one was from doverjewelry, and it was an accidental purchase. I was in the mood to buy something and figured someone would outbid me, but no one did. It's a 2 ct citrine/sterling pendant that cost me $20 (plus their standard shipping) and came with a Dover "appraisal" of $300. I didn't know what a citrine was, and I still don't even know if it's a real citrine, but I LIKE it. And it got me interested in colored stones. Money well spent.

Then I bought an aquamarine/sterling/14k gold Krypell ring from an individual. I LOVE it and wear it almost every day (aquamarine is my birthstone and holds a special place in my heart). The funny thing is that the seller included a Dover "appraisal" with it, so she must have bought it on eBay too.

Then there was the tanzanite ring I bought from an individual on eBay. It has been verified as a real tanzanite by my local colored stone jeweler, and it sparkles, so I LIKE wearing it. And it wasn't very expensive. And my jeweler gave me an insurance appraisal for 5X what I paid (which agreed with what the seller said she paid for it at a B&M store). So I'm OK with it.

So my eBay experiences have been good. I just bought two cheap 1 ct aquamarines (haven't gotten them yet) that I'm sure are pale, windowed, and otherwise totally crappy, but I just wanted to get SOMETHING to start my loose stone collection. I'll use them for earrings.

I have found an eBay seller that has my interest. He's in Afghanistan. I'll post a link if he has something that interests me and that I want all of you to critique.
