Here’s my little girl, finally back from GIA, with her passport making it official.
I’m so glad to have her back. Now I can finally breathe!

Feels like it’s my birthday!

It’s night time and difficult to get good photos.

Her report shows that the spot on her crown facet is a ‘natural’ which I suppose is better than the carbon spot I had assumed it was? They must have given her a bath, because what was a dark spot is now mirror-like. Still there, but clear.

Feel free to share opinions on the stone, bearing in mind the super-low cost and that she’s my very first diamond purchase after joining PS. Beginner’s luck I figure, but I’m pleased as punch to have a real OEC (they’re calling it OEB). Spending time on PS sure helped me.

Ok go!

More pic soon please!! She’s utterly charming!

I’ll try to capture her in the morning light :-)

What a total babe! I love her!

Thanks!

You did great, that is a wonderful lively stone and a great size. I wish I could find that size at a pawn shop around here.

She’s so pretty! How are you going to set her?

Definitely a great find, she's lovely! Also curious how you plan to set it!

Gorgeous and a steal!!
Setting ideas yet?

Gorgeous!! Christmas came early this year! :) Do you have a lavender phone case? I love the pastel colors. I rescued an old cut from the pawn shop a couple of years ago!

Been thinking about settings and can't seem to find anything new that moves me. @missy challenged me to think what I would do if money were no object. So while I will very likely chicken out and just ask David Klass to set her in a milgrain bezel (zzzz) or a rose gold prong basket (zzzz) here's my fantasy idea. It will take some time to save up for this.

So, I have some earrings with demantoid (omg so TINY) So if money were not a barrier, I'd ask him if he would make a pendant to match them. Here they are:

They came off of this ring (I was careful taking them off; I kept the shank in perfect condition):

Here's the broach that the earrings match from (I don't own it) but it shows that the pendant would look like with just a center rosette:

Here's the best mock-up I could manage (please imagine a plain rolo chain):

It would have fourteen minuscule claw prongs, set between edges of fourteen minuscule demantoids, a milgrained outer edge with gallery matching that of the earrings, and set on a chain. I'd have to source the demantoid somehow. They're Star cuts, so who knows if I could find them.

Anyway, that's the fantasy. In all likelihood, I'll put her in a plain basket so I can wear her while I save up. Thoughts?

Or a round version of this white one?

@InsecureSweetGirl that turquoise ring is divine. The blue is soft and saturated at the same time. I vote for that one! :appl:

Then again, the turquoise color seems to set off her warmth pretty well. What about a bezel like this?AD75CD6C-B586-48AC-AD2B-7291214890DA.jpeg

If it were a "reasonable" (whatever you deem reasonable) amount of time I would save for my dream setting ...but if you just want to start wearing and enjoying her I love this turquoise setting too. All beautiful choices. The main question remains...which would bring you the greatest joy and if the budget can be built up for that dream setting I would be inclined to hold and wait until I could obtain exactly what I want. If it is within reach.

Ya'know, Missy, I really thought I wanted the demantoids. It had been in the back of my mind for ages. But the more I looked at the turquoise bezel, the more I giggled with glee.

I think that's the sign.

The white one makes me smile too. It's timeless and simple.
I'll contact the seller and see what custom stuff can be done, and plan a budget for it. I prefer to use DK simply out of pure Trust. But meanwhile, if anyone finds more settings in this vein, feel free to share. It doesn't have to be a smooth bezel, it could be anything really.... I wouldn't have ever imagined a setting like that would capture my imagination!

Here's one with onyx:

Then again, the turquoise color seems to set off her

The GIA paper looks greenish-blue on my scren & the diamond is obviously at home against that colour ...

How about two aquamarines - about the same size & fittingly cut, one on each side, of course... Or eight of them for a substantial cluster?

To match the light colour tone of the diamond, the colour of the sides would be light for aqua...

The tourquise frame seems too strongly coloured and no jeweler around here makes such things - either with enamel or intarsia... (right? - I have not kept track for a while)

thinking out loud

Does anyone bother with turquoise melee -WWW, these days?

I near-never see any such turquoise pave with diamonds... Pearls - perhaps more WWW & still rare. The finest jewelry of the species seemed to involve entire fields of turquoise pave - an incredible sight... That colour! (might swamp everything) Obvious why Paraiba has been such News - a long dream for anything brilliant & Turquoise...

rambling

Paraiba melee would be amazing! Good call!

So I mounted her in a temporary setting (14k wg vintage semi/mount, $63 and I set her myself). I’m going to keep her in this ring and enjoy her until I have enough saved to match her for earrings. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!!

Oh and I’ll put up some pics.

Ahhh..... Just pure simplicity & beauty
