I love the emerald cut thread but many of the photos don't have a carat weight listed. I would love to see hand shots with carat size if you wouldn't mind sharing? Thank you!
It was originally made for my right hand middle finger back in 2004, however, I have put on weight and the ring size has gone up. Hence I am wearing it on right hand ring finger instead until I have it re-sized.
Thank you for the luck too! I started off thinking I wanted a one carat but now I have had to realistically look at the look I want and increase the budget and size. Now I am looking at 1.50 carats, I-J, eye clean with a ratio of 1.5-1.7 because I love the longer ratio stones.
I was planning to re-set mine in some form of halo setting in order to provide more finger coverage (middle finger ring size is currently 10.5 and the ring was made a 9.5), however, I decided against it as I like the setting as it is, and my ex-husband's wedding band formed part of the ring, hence it is kind of sentimental.
Hence I am going to wear it with a band or two so as to provide more finger coverage.
Rather than to spend money on new bands, I shall re-size my mum's 6-stone carre band and wear it with my EC instead, may need to have a spacer band in between to minimise the risk of rubbing.
Instead of spending quite a bit on a 1.5ct, how about spending the money on a nice halo setting, or a more substantial band to wear with the 1ct? Just a thought.
DK-Your bezel is beautiful and I think it makes it appear larger and gives great finger coverage! I actually have a very large halo ring which I just dropped off to GOG yesterday to consign. My current work doesn't allow me to wear such a ring so I am looking for something very low set and simple for daily use. I know the halo adds so much for finger coverage but I am looking for something dainty but beautiful! I love that your ring was made in part, by your husbands ring-how moving!
Thank you for your post!
I know what you meant about halos not being very practical, as I seldom wear my EC to work as it is set quite high and, IMHO, too much for my work environment, being in a factory that makes pharmaceutical products. Hence I had a smaller ring made, with a 0.47ct EC, bezel set very low in a platinum band.
Have a look at this ring design, as I like it for its low profile, yet glam and blingy enough to provide substance and good finger coverage, and the centre stone does not need to be that big:
oh that's quite nice!
That was a great idea about having the second ring made! I would love to keep my halo ring because it is really beautiful but I need to put the proceeds of the sale towards my new ring lol. If it doesn't sell as is, they recommended I separate the diamond from the setting because they said it is often easier to sell that way.
I absolutely love the single stone designs but they are out of my budget so GOG will be having a design custom made for me once I finalize my center stone.
Art Deco I found your thread! Lol... I'm keeping my halo and will sell the centre diamond only. I'll reset a ruby in my halo and give it to my daughter later as it's her birthstone. I doubt you'll get much for the setting itself right? Just an idea.
Thanks for the shares ladies- just beautiful!
Redroze- yes my center is 1.72 so that's why I am selling. I will consider selling separately if someone only wants the center but won't separate just to sell the setting. The setting was handmade for the stone though and is quite detailed and beautiful.
