I''m teetering on the verge of purchasing a halo setting because it''s just so gorgeous and I''ve been fawning over it for a while. It''s meant to fit a 1.5ct 6.5mm emerald cut stone. But is it too much of a contrast between the straight linear cut of the emerald stone and the tiny round stones of the halo?

To be honest, I''m torn between an emerald and an asscher cut. Asschers just seem so trendy right now (no offense to anyone with an asscher).

I don''t think its too much, in fact one of my favourite rings here is an EC with a halo, see in this link.

Here is another one...

but this one is my favorite :)

Personally I love the look of a halo around step cuts. I actually perfer the EC with a halo to an asscher with the halo. And rememeber I think the people on PS are a different breed. I rarely see EC or Asschers in real life and if I do none of them are haloed! So just because it is trendy on this website doesn''t mean you will be seeing them all over the place where you live. Hope that helps!

Wow, that ring is incredible!!!

i believe gwyneth paltrow''s ring is an EC in a halo

It''s not too much if it''s done well in my opinion. Having said this emeralds cuts do stand up very well on their own particularly in larger sizes. I think you should do what pleases you. In short I think you know you should look at the ring or design you''re considering before deciding.

Is it too much as a general rule? No absolutely not.
