Emerald or Oval?

Still haven't decided!
Now I'm considering an oval and an emerald.
Oval- J vvs2 roughly 10.3mm x 7.2mm
Emerald- I si1 roughly 8.5mm x 7.8mm (i can't see the inclusion)
Stones have just been placed in temporary settings for the pictures. I would set the emerald with the tapered baguette but the oval I'd place in a very plain platinum solitaire setting.

Thoughts?

We need better pictures of the faceting of the oval, but judging from those pictures, I like the EC better.
 
Based on these pics only, I would go for the emerald cut diamond. Beautiful look on your slender hand :wavey:
 
What do you like better? Those rings are on opposite sides of the scale! A step cut will not give you the brilliance of the oval, so you need to decide if you like flashes and blod reflections, or a stone that gives you brilliance? They're both gorgeous! I'd probably go for the oval because I really like the shape of it (just based on the pictures provided), could you get better pictures?
 
I happen to love ovals. So if it were me I'd go with the oval but emeralds are pretty awesome too.
 
I love the EC. It's so classic.

I personally prefer the emerald :love: but it is about you. What do you prefer?
 
I would go with the EC. It has a larger presence on your hand, plus it looks like a lovely stone. I have a thing for the large flashes of an emerald cut though!

Love the emerald on your hand, but the oval is nice, too! I'd go with the emerald.

Another vote for the Emerald it is the visually more appealing overall look on your hand.

I am an emerald girl!! So I would say Emerald! G'luck!
 
I prefer the Emerald in this case as well.
 
I'm going to try to get some more pics. I think these are bit deceptive- they make the emerald look a lot larger than it actually is because of the way it's sinking down into the setting. The oval is probably the most beautifully cut oval I've seen.

Hopefully, I'll have time to go back and photo the stones again!
 
They are both great. It's a toss up to me. I'd love to see more pics.

Sounds like you'd regret giving it up, so I vote oval.
 
It looks like I'm in the minority here, but I love the oval! It looks delicate and feminine - lovely on your slender fingers!!
 
My two favorite cuts are the emerald and oval for ER. I looked at both and chose the best stone I could find and went with the oval-it has so much fire. Looking at the two pictures the EC is showing better. It is in my favorite setting. So if you can look at the stones alone and not be biased toward the settings pick the stone that sings to you.
 
I am an oval who has also always wanted an emerald!! However, deep down, i think the oval will always win me over because I prefer the look of the soft curves of an oval. I had a radiant with side princess cuts and the look was just too angular. That is the diffeerence that I see between the two rings... Honestly, both are BEAUTIFUL. I prefer the finger coverage of the oval and if you say it is on of the most beaufitul ovals you have ever seen... well, you SAID it! My vote goes for the oval! (but that EC is also really attractive and seems well cut. )
 
I think thy both look nice. I had a tough time deciding between a cushion or an EC. I walked around for 2 hours with both
stones sitting on my hand. It's a tough choice. I finally felt I would miss the scintillation if I went with the EC. But I think now I know the EC has a beauty all it's own. I wish I had chosen the EC to be honest - it was a gorgeous stone. Go with your heart.
 
I prefer EC to oval - no contest for me1
 
Are these the actual stones you are considering or just thinking about oval shape versus emerald? If so, I would want to see better close up pictures to see the cut on both diamonds.

ETA
Perhaps these diamond have already been reviewed and deemed to both be well cut in a different thread?
 
Emerald also gets my vote :love:
