I have an 18kt yellow gold pin that was left to me by my grandmother - it is a flower (about 2" tall) with blue enamel petals that open and close on hinges - it has 9 small rubies on "stamens" that are flexible. The box it is in says "Fred" Paris.

Does anyone have a clue how much this might be worth?

Will you post a picture? Show us the back as well as the front. That might help us get an idea of what it is. It sounds very cool!

But the best thing for you to do if you want to know its value is to take it to an appraiser. Are the stones rubies or something else? If they're rubies, are they natural or synthetic? If they're natural, have they been treated? We can't tell from just a description (or even from a picture, for that matter).

Sound gorgeous - I'd love to see a picture!

thanks for your reply! I will try to get a photo on here soon.

the stones are natural rubies - but I don't know if they have been treated

This is a famous and celectable name (LINK). If the stones are small, it matters little whether they are treated or not. It's great that the original box is in place.

... can we see it ?

I don't have a digital camera, but I am trying to borrow one. I will send a photo then. Yes, it is in the original box, which is dark blue satin and the box is inside an orange velvet drawstring sac. Thanks!
