Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to PS but have been loving the LIW group
Bittersweet-ly my stay over there was even shorter than expected. SO and I picked out a ring around 3 weeks ago and I was expecting it to come in January. It came 4 weeks early and he surprised me with it last night on 12/12/12! (No excuse not to remember that anniversary!
) Stats below and some ramblings of the story. I have a few pics taken with my phone but I am getting a new camera for xmas so hope to have lots more pictures soon
Thanks for looking!
1.32 ct GIA K VS1 Excellent cut
0.12 ct of melee on the basket
Danhov setting in platinum
Ring size 5.25
I had been browsing (and lurking on PS) for a few months and was pretty set on a RB with a pave band. I wanted a thin band, and some detailing on the basket - I was considering Beverly K and Ritani endless love w/o halo or whatever people are calling it these days :p I finally managed to convince SO to go in-person browsing with me. Initially I wanted him to choose a ring and surprise me given the vague parameters I gave, but I quickly realized I was very picky and needed to choose it myself. I'm so glad I insisted on seeing and trying things on in person, as I never would have considered my setting otherwise. While in the store, SO was like, why not try a solitaire? So I did and fell in love with it!! (And now he gets to have credit for choosing my ring anyway hehe)
Then we got to choosing a stone - I am not a very blingy person so I wanted something visible but not too big. This 1.32 K was the second stone I saw. I found that I really didn't mind the warmth even though originally I didn't think I could go so low in color. Plus I also realized I was very clarity-sensitive - I saw some SI1 and SI2s and could swear I could see the inclusions even though SO couldn't (damn attention to detail!) so this VS1 was perfect. Having worn my ring for... 15 hours lol ... I don't notice the color at all except maybe a little from the side? Either way, I love it!
While a lot of PS and diamond research is about stats and science and reason, I ultimately am a very go by my gut kind of person, so while I didn't try on many settings or see many diamonds, I knew that my emotional reaction to both my setting and stone meant that it was right for me, even if there are potentially "better" diamonds out there. Just goes to show you never know what you're going to fall in love with - whether it be people, or settings, or stones haha
Enjoy the pics!
