kaleigh-

So I went to the jewelry store to try on the matching wedding band. I loved it!!! It totally completes the look. I wish I could wear the wedding band NOW!!! It was difficult to see how the bands looked with the e-ring because the sizes were too big. There were huge gaps and couldn't get the bands to sit next to the e-ring because they were so loose. I got a general idea though and it was just so beautiful and sparkly! I don't think Robbie and I can afford two wedding bands though. I would love to get two if we have the money by the time we want to buy wedding bands. The lady told us we shouldn't wait long because "prices keep going up".
20.gif
We're still trying to pay off the e-ring! Maybe we can get one and then buy the second one for our one year anniversary. (Or five year anniversary if we're really broke, lol!) What do you think?

Need help...

I forgot to mention that when I went to the jewelry store, I brought up the fact that the bezel of the e-ring is not completely round. It is the inner ring that is around the diamond, not the outer ring of the bezel. Well, it is slightly irregular. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that, but I compared my ring to the ones in the store and those ones were perfectly round. The lady told me that Ritani is handmade so of course it won't be "perfect". I then told her that the diamonds going around the band were uneven... one more diamond on one side than the other. Then she told me, "Now you're just being picky!"
6.gif
I was a little upset that she said that. I just wanted to mention it. Robbie wasn't too happy either, lol. She said it had to do something with my ring size. Is that true? There is ample space for sizing... why wouldn't they put the same amount of diamonds on each side? I don't really care about the one diamond... I was just curious and she was kinda rude. (What's up with me and rude people?!?) I'm more concerned with the bezel... it bugs me a little. They said it is just extra metal and their "platinumsmith" could shave it down or something like that. (I'll try to take pics but it is really hard to take close up shots.) What do you all think?

I'm not sure if anyone is still reading this thread... should I start a new topic?

Chellebelle,
So glad you liked the band. I was just kidding about getting two, but for a first anniversary it would be nice!!
31.gif
Don't worry about seeing how it will look. I had the same problem when I went to signed pieces to pick out my diamond eternity band. Well I got it two weeks ago and it looks fabulous with me engagment ring!!

Chellebelle,
I just read part two of your post. I think if start a new thread you will get lots more help!! I can''t stand rude sales people either. There was another person here on ps that had a similiar problem, good luck!!

Your ring is beautiful. I love the setting!! It makes the diamond look huge!! I love the pave look!!

chellebelle (I ADORE ADORE ADORE your ring, btw!!!)--

There was someone else a few months'' back (Kayla? I forget) who had similar issues with their Ritani--some minor irregularity plus the SAME thing with uneven # of diamonds in the band. Maybe do a search? Does anyone remember this?

LOVE YOUR RING!...so Ritani set your mother''s old stone, right? That is so good to know.

Thanks for the help! I hope I'm not being "too picky" like the sales woman said.
7.gif
I guess the one pave diamond is not a big deal... it's just ONE diamond. I think the bezel bothers me more than anything. I know it's "handmade", but all the other rings I looked at had a perfectly round bezel. Rob said he paid a pretty chunk of change for this ring, so it SHOULD be perfect.

I tried to post a pic of the bezel, though it was difficult to take a picture of it and you can't really tell. It's much easier to see when you're holding it, but I guess it'll give you an idea. Anyways, it's the inner ring of the bezel (the part closest to the diamond) where I see the unevenness. The top half looks round and the part inbetween the lines that I've drawn is where to starts to look irregular to me. Is it just me? Am I just seeing things? "Too picky"?

''Too picky''?
I don''t think so... there''s no reason the ring should be crooked. "Handmade" is suposed to be better not worse.
11.gif

I totally agree. I think your ring is absolutely beautiful, but if there is something about it that is getting under your skin, I would have them fix it. Afterall, you did pay for the Ritani name, so you should get the quality you paid for. You will be looking at this ring for the rest of your life, if it bugs you now......take care of it. That woman was extremely rude to you. I would ask for her supervisor and tell them that you don''t appreciate being treated like that, and that you could have easily taken your business elsewhere.

Blueroses, I do remember Kayla''s probs. I''ll try to find that thread.

Kaylas problems with Ritani are listed under the thread:

Is this crooked or am I cross eyed? and it is in Show Me The Ring.

Sorry, I don''t know how to make a link to it here. duh!!!
emembarrassed.gif

Yep, it's crooked, and they should fix it, no doubt about it. Someone should also fix that woman who told you you were just being picky. Why SHOULDN'T you be? That ring will be on your finger for the rest of your life, and YOU'RE the one that will look at it the most. There shouldn't be ANYTHING that really bothers you about the ring. The inner bezel is most definitely uneven, and just because it is HAND MADE does not mean it should be held without eye-pleasing standard!!!!!

Here is kayla's thread referenced above:
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/is-this-crooked-or-am-i-crossed-eyed.21846/=

chellebelle,

I personally couldn''t see it in the picture you posted but I think if it bothers you then you should insist on getting it fixed. You have a RIGHT to be as picky as you since you paid the money for a ring that will make you happy. I don''t think you should settle for an imperfection that will annoy you. I am SUPER picky and usually try to be apologetic about inconveniencing people to make microscopic adjustments that are probably not noticeable to the naked eye but will put my mind at ease. The jewelry business is pretty competitive so I think your jeweler should be more understanding to whatever level of "pickiness" you have as you just gave them a great amount of business!

Good luck and keep posting pictures because I just adore you ring

Chellebelle:

Well I didn''t notice it in the picture, but when you wrote what it was, I found it. Go back to the store and tell them you want it fixed. That is an expensive setting, so I don''t think that there is such thing as being "too picky" Good Luck!

I noticed it after you pointed it out as well--it''s subtle, but it''s defintely there.

Check out Kayla''s thread, and then--armed with that information (which you can ascribe to "an acquaintance!")--go back to the store and ask for a supervisor.

1) point out your concerns
2) tell her about the other Ritani case your "acquaintance" had and how it was handled
3) express your displeasure at rudely being made to feel petty for simply wanting the quality that your FH paid for with the ritani name!!

Good luck

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Your input helps a lot.

It is true that I should be COMPLETELY happy with the ring, and though I DO love it to death, I will definitely try to have them fix the bezel. If I don't, it will probaby bug me forever. I mentioned it to the the salesman and sales woman when I was in there over the weekend and they did notice it too. I didn't quite understand what they meant when they said the unevenness was due to "extra metal"... they said they could just shave it down (the metal). Sounds a little scary! I know the "imperfection" is subtle, but I'm sure as you all know, when you know it's there and where it is, you notice it every time and it can drives you nuts! Also, thanks for the reference to Kayla's thread, which also helped. I hope I don't have to part with my ring for too long.
39.gif

I was also going to have my ring sized down due to spinning issues and the sales woman said that in order to do so, the "RITANI" and "PT950" that are stamped on the inside of the ring would no longer be there since they'd have to smooth the inside once it's resized. Is that a big deal? Are the stamps important? I guess I'm wondering if I really need them there.
33.gif
The lady said I should wait to size the ring till summer because fingers swell a lot. Do they really swell that much? Do you all keep your rings a little bit bigger to accomodate this?

As always, thank you kindly for the help and advice!
chellebelle

Umm, this is my personal opinion, and should be taken as such, but to me, YES, the Ritani and PT950 markings are important and even if they are removed during resizing, should be restamped by the company. Otherwise, years from now, say you want to change the setting, or your daughter or granddaughter wants to verify the setting is genuine...you will have no way to do so. To me, after having paid the extra money to get name brand quality, I better be able to see the name brand.
1.gif

Fingers really do swell in the summer and I do keep my rings bigger to accomodate this. You might look into having "speed bumps" put into the ring if it is really loose...these can be filed down if the ring gets tight. But I would wait till the summer and see how the ring feels before doing anything.

I would think if you had the ring sized, they would just restamp the ring with the Ritani, and PL#. I know Tiffany''s does this. About the swelling, my hands are bigger in the summer so I have my rings sized to accomodate this. Some people don''t have this problem. Summer is right around the corner why not wait and see if this is an issue for you. Also about the bezel, it is crooked and needs to be fixed. I don''t think you are being too picky at all chelle.

Gorgeous ring!!!

I don''t think anyone would notice the irregularities you pointed out -- because they''d be dazzled by the spectacular design!

But of course, why shouldn''t you be 100% satisfied with your perfect bauble? I do agree that the maker should re-stamp your band as well.

Congratulations!

snow happy-

I'm glad you enjoy the pics! I think I've found a new hobby!
9.gif
Anyways, I took some today (when I should've been studying for a test
20.gif
). It's been absolutely gorgeous the past week and a half, so I've been taking lots of pics. I so love my ring!!! I was in my car earlier today waiting for the stoplight to turn. Of course I was gazing at my ring as my hand was out the window and it was sparkling from the sunshine.
30.gif
All of a sudden a heard a honk! I'm sure I had been staring at my ring for some time... those poor people behind me! Oops.
1.gif

Anyways, here are some more pics! As you can tell, I'm into taking pics of my ring in flowers! Hopefully, you all aren't staring at my uneven bezel.
2.gif
I, of course, can pick it up right away!
You can see the purple from the mums reflecting in the center stone...

Maybe I'm seeing things now, but I think I can see a little of the unevenness on the left side of the ring in this pic... Still gorgeous though!

First I want to say that your ring is gorgeous! I especially love your flower pictures. They really show off your diamond. I probably wouldn''t have noticed the uneven bezel if you hadn''t pointed it out, but I was too busy being stunned by the sparkle of your diamond. But I do know how you feel. Sometimes it takes a couple of days of staring at your new ring before you find the flaws. I don''t think that I have one single peice of jewelry that doesn''t have some kind of minor imperfection. Most are something I can live with, but not if it''s on one of my diamonds! I feel bad for you, but I wanted you to know that I''m kind of going through the same thing. I just had my diamond reset in a tulipset. I just kept staring at the stone for the first couple of days...it looked so much bigger and more sparkly in the new setting. But the first day my mother saw it, she started LOOKING for something wrong (and she usually manages to find something). She pointed out to me that the prongs were not quite even. The prongs make the setting look "tilted". Now I can''t stop staring at it. The more I look at it, the more tilted it looks. I went back to the store where I had the ring set, and the jeweler had gone on vacation!!! He will be gone for at least two more weeks. I don''t know whether or not to point out the problem when he gets back, or just live with it. But I am so obsessive and such a "perfectionist" that I''m afraid it''s going to drive me crazy. I''m also afraid that if I have him try to fix the problem, he will somehow screw up my ring!
8.gif

Not only that...tonight I was down on my hands and knees cleaning the floor, so I took my rings off and put them on the table. My little boy came along and picked up my ring to look at it, and when I asked him to put it down, he was startled and he dropped it on the floor! Now it is a little dinged and scratched.
32.gif

Anyway...sorry to vent my problems on you like this, but I just wanted you to know you aren''t alone or crazy when you find something wrong with your ring.

sjz-

You''re not venting at all, lol! And please don''t apologize... if anyone is "venting", it would be me!
20.gif
Thank you for your response and sharing your experience... I really appreciate it! It is nice to know that others are going through (or have gone through) the same thing. (Not nice knowing that they are having problems with their ring, just nice to know that I''m not alone!
2.gif
) I think you should definitely get your ring fixed because you don''t want "the tilt" to be the thing you see every time you look at your ring. I will take my ring in for sure, I just have to find the time to do it and the will to part with it!
5.gif

As far as the stamping, I told them that I DID want the stamps there (this was last weekend). The sales lady had the whole "honey, there''s nothing we can do about it" attitude. Urgh. Couldn''t you just send the ring to Ritani and have them stamp it? (The jewelers themselves couldn''t do it, right?) I see the stamps as being "proof" and "verification" that it truly is a Ritani and also what type of metal it is. Anyways, I don''t think I''ll worry about the "stamping" issue just yet because that goes along with the "sizing" issue and I''m going to wait to get the ring sized. I''d hate to size it down and have it not fit during the summer!
10.gif

I''ll keep you updated on the bezel... hopefully all goes well!

Chelle,
I'm so sorry to hear about your the problem you're having with the bezel. Definitely have them fix it! And that lady shouldn't have been so rude!
29.gif
If it makes you feel any better, your ring is still super gorgeous! I've been out of town, so it was such a treat to come back and see that you posted some more pics. (I guess you got my subtle hint from my last post!)
2.gif
hehe

I have to say, not only is your ring amazing, but your picture taking ability is amazing too! I love the "in flower" shots. Do you mind taking pics of my ring when I get it?
1.gif
Anyways, I could drool over your ring all day.... this setting really has become one of my all time faves. Please keep the eye candy coming! Until I get my ring, I'm living through you, honey!!!!

Yeah... you can always cont on PS to STOP you from posting diamond pictures, no

That''s precisely why we are here, just in case you have not noticed !

Congratulations for the awesome bauble of course
36.gif

Chellebelle, I didn''t notice the irregularities in the bezel until you pointed it out. I went back to the pictures and I do see it. I hope all will work out. As for the finger swelling in warm weather, it is very true. I am a size 3-1/2 but I got my e-ring in a size 4 because it can get pretty humid and hot here where I livei and the ring fits perfectly. But when it''s cooler, if I just shake my hand my ring can just slide off if I''m not careful.
23.gif
I noticed that wearing a wedding band with it helps keep in on better.

chellebelle--

wonderful pictures! There is something about the mixture of the flowers and the diamonds that makes the picture so breathtaking! I did notice the uneveness in the second flower picture after you mentioned it. I also think you should get it re-stamped. It sounds silly but yes it is verification that it''s in fact a genuine Ritani. You paid for the name so you might as well have it stamped. Also if you pass this ring onto children or grandchildren then it''s useful to know the designer and metal. :)

About the finger swelling...I read in your profile that you are from Portland and I''m not sure how humid it gets there in the summer. I was worried about the whole finger swelling thing (even though I live in Souther California) because the last time I tried on rings my hands were really cold and the jeweler said to come back when it was a warmer day but everytime I go I get stuck looking at rings for hours! So one day when it was raining and I had been running (literally) too and from my car I noticed my hands were really hot and had that swelling type feeling you get when you go inside after being out in the cold so I had the Macy''s jewelry counter size my finger and it was about the same as the jeweler had sized it so not a big difference in finger swelling. (that''s just my experience :))

Hope that helps :)

I''m late but I love your ring! The hand and flower shots are absolutely gorgeous!
2.gif

Oh thanks so much, LM!
face23.gif
I love it more each day!

I finally got the uneven bezel fixed... I guess that''s an excuse to post new pics of my ring!
