Engagement Ring

Hello PSers! I have been reading tons of threads on here, but most are relating to round diamonds. I am quite partial to the princess cut myself, but could be persuaded to look at round. My boyfriend stated that 5k would be his preferred budget, but that could fluctuate upwards depending on the ring. I love bands like this http://www.bluenile.com/solitaire-diamond-engagement-ring-setting_21019 as it's "different" enough that it's not a typical solid band.. I think it's neat. My only true concern is that I feel like I have big fingers (7.5?), so I'd like to stay around 1ct, or more. Thanks in advance!

Julie, thanks for looking around for me! I did a little more research after I posted this last night, and it seems that princess cut diamonds look WAY smaller than round diamonds the same ct. So maybe it'll be round after all ...

You should get whichever one you like.

Princesses are cheaper, so you can get a higher carat weight to make up for it. Also the size difference is not that much. It is not easy to hit 1 ct round plus setting under 5K.
