Hello everyone,
I am new posting here but have spent countless hours reading through all of the posts on this website. There is some really helpful information here so thank you! I am looking for an eternity band with .35 to .40 weight stones and am really stuck on some things that I was hoping to get some advice on. For reference I am looking at a size 7 band.
1. Torn on ovals vs rounds: Love the elongated shape of ovals and how they look larger but don’t love the bowtie. Also worried they may be too trendy now where round is more classic and never goes out of style
2. Metal: my engagement and wedding rings are platinum which I have not had issues with but I have received different advice regarding eternity bands. Some people say 14 or 18 k gold is stronger. I really don’t have a preference, just want to know that I am getting something durable that I wont have issues with down the road. I don’t typically wear my rings daily but I do have two kids, am always doing laundry or cleaning something. I don‘t want to worry about a ping catching a thread or a stone coming out or scratching.
3. Stones: is there a sweet spot for color, cut, clarity etc that would give me a gorgeous ring at an affordable price?
4. Setting: I don’t want a clunky ring where all you see is metal but I also need something secure...was looking at open gallery/air line setting vs u prong...any suggestions or other recommendations?
5. GIA vs non certified: is there a need to have the band with all GIA certified stones? I am finding that they are mostly sold with non certified stones
6. IDJ jewelry: I came across them online and have been in touch with Lisa and now Tammy. They have been really helpful and they have really amazing prices. I am still skeptical about such a large purchase online. I have also read here about asking them for the “price scope” quality stones...what does this mean?
I am attaching a picture of my engagement ring. It is a 2.75c cushion cut in a halo setting with a pave band. It sits really low on my finger so its a challenge to put an eternity band with it. I have it pictured here with a round .35 band that I tried on in the store and am not sure if I am in love with the look (don’t mind the bad manicure lol). I LOVE my ring and dont want to necessarily not wear it so I am considering the eternity on my right hand or my engagement on my right hand. The plan is to get a few additional petite eternity bands to stack down the road so I have to figure out how to add in my engagement ring somehow.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I truly appreciate any feedback that you can give me
