I posted this in the Cushion Cut forum, but I thought I would post it here, because I am extremely happy with the ring I got custom made from Excel Diamonds. Barry and Judah did a fantastic job!
The center diamond is a cushion cut, 1.02 carats, I-colour, excellent cut, VS2 clarity. The setting is done in platinum, ring size 4.25.
I think the size of the diamond looks perfect on my hand. I was worried that since it is a cushion cut, it would face up small, but the halo setting makes it look very classic and vintage. Also, with the I-colour, the stone sometimes look a bit yellowish in flash photography, but in real life it faces up white and my eye cannot detect any yellow in the stone.
I had trouble finding reviews on the Tiffany Legacy inspired setting from Excel Diamonds, so I wanted to share my experience with them. I am hoping to get our wedding bands from them too.
My boyfriend and I live in Ontario, so we had it shipped Fedex priority. My boyfriend had to pay a small fee ($11) for Fedex to act as our broker to clear it through customs. He only had to pay HST (13%) tax and no duty because it came with a NAFTA certificate.
