Experience with Travelers' Jewelry Insurance

Hi everyone,

I wanted to check and see if anyone had experience with Travelers' Jewelry insurance? We are thinking of getting a Travelers' homeowners' policy and their jewelry rates seem very reasonable. The broker also told me that with their jewelry policy they will write you a check for the appraised value for any lost, stolen, or items that mysteriously disappear and the rate seemed too good to be true for that kind of coverage. If anyone has any experience with Travelers', good or bad, I would be interested to hear!

I've been with Travelers since the early 90s and I am more than happy with them.

In 1999 I lost my engagement ring and had a check in my hand in about a week. (The ring was later found and I returned the money.)

And a few years ago (I think 2008 or 9) I lost a diamond earring. I sent them the other earring and they send me a check for the pair.

In both cases they *offered* to provide me with a replacement piece of jewelry and when I said "Thanks, but no thanks" they cut checks. No fuss no muss. Yes, I probably do pay more than I could get coverage for elsewhere based on the rates I sometimes see discussed on this board, but it's worth it to me to know that I am fully covered.

Let me clarify though that I have a separate personal articles policy where everything is listed out separately, not included in a bulk homeowners policy.
