Experiences with Brian Gavin Diamonds

Awww, thanks for checking in on me, Enerchi! I actually spoke with Lesley today. I never wound up trying to connect yesterday, as my day was taken up by shopping and my toddler (not bad, I'd say!) So, I'm sending in my little OEC tomorrow! Yay! I may bump your Barbara thread with some questions. Thanks again!

Woo hoo! I love my OEC Barbara pendant! It has NOT come off since I got it. It rarely flips on me and the clasp does travel but it's not a busy traveller! I asked for mine to be made at 17.75". Crazy length? Yes but I did that because it's custom...and I could!

Hi Blingaddict

I am new to PS, so not sure if i am doing this correctly. I am also from Australia and am looking at purchasing from Brian Gavin. I was hoping to talk to you offline to get some more information about the process.

Is that possible?

Best thing to do is email BGD and find out the best way to communicate with them to accommodate the time difference. They are good to work with.

i am a fan of their Blue diamonds series. great quality and niche specialization.

I was very happy with my Brian Gavin experience. I am from Australia and bought an upgrade ring for an anniversary. I immediately got a good vibe from this company,I dealt with Jamie and her replies were always prompt. The turn around time for my ring was about three weeks, although I was not in a hurry to receive it. I think the diamond is beautiful and much larger and better quality than we could have afforded here. I found their website very good too. Most of what I needed to see and know was there to refer to.

Hi

Can you please give me an idea of what you ordered from BGD, ie loose diamond or piece of jewellery, and what duties and taxes you had to pay for it to come into Australia?

thanks
ali

Hi Ali,

Sorry I just noticed this. I bought three rings from BGD over the last few years, one band listed in their normal inventory, a five stone slightly customised with all diamonds from their inventory and a custom ring which I sent the coloured stone in for. I agree with swingirl, BGD can talk you through everything they have heaps of experience dealing with overseas customers. I have always contacted them through their website in the first instance then have been able to arrange phone calls as necessary.

You have to pay 10% Gst collected by fed ex when your package comes into the country I.e. They called and asked for payment by credit card. You don't have to pay duty because of free trade agreement with US. Look up AUSFTA on this site, there is a detailed thread on how to ensure you don't pay 5% duty, I personally have never tried this due to people's different experiences needing to sort out with fed ex before your package arrived, I just intended to claim duty back later which I think the same thread sets out how to do, however I also haven't got around to that. BGD know what needs to be done from their end so you don't have to pay duty, and some other aussies who have done this might be able to help if you had any queries.

Hope this helps. Cheers, BA
