After helping me find a great diamond, I am once agfain soliciting your expert opinion to help me choose a setting. Here is some vital info:
4 prong solitaire
Platinum
Not tapered
Ring size: 5
Diamond size: .81ct
With Brian Gavin the two styles that seem to fit the bill are the classic 4 prong solitaire and the Novella Patientia. A few questions regarding both:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/four-prong-solitaire-14k-white-gold-5342w14
- The top width of the 4 prong solitaire is 2.9mm and the bottom is 2.2mm according to the wbesite which means the top of the ring is larger than the bottom. That seems strange to me. Did I understand this correctly?
- Will a 2.9mm width make the center stone (6mm) look small?
- Is the price difference ($850 vs $1475) worth it for the Novella Patientia? I ask because if my gf (soon to be fiancé) found out I didn't do my financial due dilligence, she would be greatly distressed.
Thanks again for the help!
