Whilst discussing with @Cerulean on her incredible sapphire and black rhodium floating ring, she mentioned Fabio Salini as a source of inspiration.

I had not heard of him before but it just so happened that Sothebys London was having an auction of some of his pieces to raise money for the Make A Wish foundation, that provides an experience of a lifetime for terminally ill children.

I had a chance to go and view some of his stunning pieces in person (but not try them on sadly).

Let me know which one(s) are your favourite!

I’m personally a fan of:
1. The carbon fibre and pearl necklace - that juxtaposition of hard and soft, black and white, industrial and classic was simply breathtaking
2. Anything nail related (JUC was one of my first pieces after all!) - emerald ring, peridot ear hoops

Fabio is famous for his use of interesting and innovative materials. In addition to carbon fibre, he has used shagreen (stingray skin) and titanium, and I think also straw in the past!

Here are some more pieces, grouped into the red/pink category for easy sorting

Last set of pictures, the white category - moonstones, diamonds and opals.

The floral opal earrings are probably my third favourite - they were huuuge and grazed past the shoulder. The carbon fibre stalk with its realistic texture coupled with the vibrant opals was stunning. Whilst I’m not the biggest fan of the pave and flower detail itself, the level of workmanship was wonderful to see.

Oh my gosh - what masterpieces!!! Unbelievable pieces, I would’ve had my face pressed against the glass!

My personal faves are the emerald ring in the first pic - that electric green contrasted with the black is outstanding - there is something devilishly sultry about the color combination! His grasp of color is really artistic and amazing. His work reminds me Hemmerle and Taffin, two other faves of mine. Altho Taffin is less playful with materials (mostly enamel) and Hemmerle borrows from more classical European design motifs and is more feminine.

The opal earrings are my second fave. Wow - absolutely remarkable. Would be sooo curious to see what those babies look like on! I imagine you’d need a long neck…

I know you like more industrial pieces, so also really appreciate the contrast with the pearls too! I love an edgy pearl necklace!

Your wish is my command...

I didn't realise the flowers were detachable from the stalk!

Edited to say that I would love to see some Taffin in real life. I saw some Hemmerle at a Masterpiece London exhibition 4-5 years ago so I don't have the photos, but those pieces were unbelieveable. I am a huge fan of the Hemmerle vegetable collection!

Those earrings are SO gorgeous. Red carpet worthy! They must just glow and glimmer in all of the right ways!

Yes yes yes that vegetable collection is magical! Ugh it’s so otherworldly! Conjures old children’s books and I mean that in the best way possible…

My other favorite is Otto Jakob…but I’d die to see any of these IRL!

Also I had to correct- i think @Neptune was the one who first referenced her designs!

How about those emerald earrings!

His earrings are AMAZING!! Thank you for reporting back, @Pomelo

It’s giving Siamese cat, predator/prey, and a bit of Little Shop of Horrors. I love it all.
