so you are certain you're comfortable upping your budget slightly? Id probably pick the 2.17 if the IS turns out good. Or the 2.01 JA, especially if you'd prefer to stay with your original budget.

But this is without the IS images. Id like to hear what JA says about the stones.

Also, what is the setting going to be?

yea, I'm looking forward to seeing the IS reports... My wife likes the tocori setting HT2510

The 2.10 (second diamond) and the 2.17 diamond (last diamond) are almost the same diameter. The 2.17 is very deep, so you're paying for extra weight in the pavilion that's not translating into a bigger face-up size.

Isnt the 2.10 more expensive than the 2.17?

yes, the 2.1 is about $800 more and its from B2C jewles and I'm least familiar with them vs Blue nile and James Allen

Ditto, I don't look at anything below 62.3 and prefer 62 or less. But until we see the idealscope images, we really can't choose any of them. I'd eliminate the Blue Nile stone unless they send an idealscope image, and I am not wild about the 33 crown angle. The others look better numerically other than the one that is too deep.

I like that setting very much! You might want to show her these custom made rings that are very similar. One has french cut diamonds and the other has rounds:

Wow, that setting is really nice. Any idea how much $$$ based on a two carat center stone - ring only?

well he says its BMW priced haha (which is the second lowest price)

I am not certain. I would contact him and get a quote. If you were interested in that type of setting thats handmade, id contact Leon mege, Victor Canera like DS suggested, and maybe steven Kirsch too, get quotes from them all.

http://www.stevenkirsch.com/engagement/solitaire/r0201.html

they are probably a few thousand more than the tacori your wife wanted, so i dont think that 25K stone would be a bad choice at all. Allows for more money to go toward the setting. And these guys make works of art so i really think the entire ring would be overall greater with a slightly less expensive (but still within your original specs goal) stone and a completely amazing setting like that.

I think they can run $7-8k for the french cut sides, but I know Tacori is rather pricey, too. One of the ones I linked of Victor's is almost just like the Tacori with rounds on the sides. I would still rather have handforged even if you went with that design. I think Leon has a tendency to set stones too low, so I would use Victor Canera for either of those settings.

I like a lower cut setting so its really preference. But id still get a quote from all three. And that 26k instead of the other 30k would leave room for the hand forged setting... assuming the IS images come back good, Id pick the lower cost stone and get a top quality setting.

just shared the pics w/ my wife and she likes them all... Thanks for all the help the idealscope images should arrive in a few days...

Did you checked with B2C? I see the HCA score of their stone is 1.7 - excellent
get the Images from all and share them with us, post that we can suggest you the best.
My personal experience with B2C has been more than satisfactory. Recently one of their customer has also posted his exp with B2C.

I saw both the diamonds 2.10 & 2.17 online and the reason why 2.10 is expensive mainly because of it is VS1 and the 2.17 is VS2, Second thing is 2.17 has black inclusion on table at 4 o'clock where as 2.10 looks eye clean. 3rd - the girdle of 2.17 is slightly thick and 2.10 is Medium to slightly thick. I'd suggest you to get the images from B2C and post them here so that we can guide you in the right direction.

I have the ideal scopes back from James Allen and here is what they have to say - honestly I can not tell the difference - they all look good - Help Please

1463054id.jpg 1526661id.jpg 1540577id.jpg Thank you for your patience while waiting for the gemologist inspection and idealscope images of diamonds 1526661, 1463054, and 1540577. The requested idealscope images have been attached to this email for you to review.

You'll be happy to hear that diamond 1526661 (2.17crt G VS2) is incredibly bright and has great light performance. Its brightness balances nicely throughout the diamond and I know you'll be pleased with how lively it is. It has a higher/whiter "G" color and it faces perfectly eye clean. This diamond is a beautiful option and I strongly recommend it for your diamond purchase. I have no doubts that your fiancée-to-be will love it and that you'll be satisfied as well.

Diamond 1463054 (2.00crt H VVS2) is ranked a very close second in terms of performance, with diamond 1540577 (2.01crt G VS2) right behind it. Both of them are eye clean and are very beautiful in their own right. You cannot go wrong with any of your diamonds, but I'd like to suggest purchasing diamond 1526661 since it is the brightest, whitest, and the gemologist's favorite.

Please take a moment to review this information and let me know if you have any additional questions. I have extended your hold on these diamonds for an additional 24 hours while you consider your options. I've copied my colleagues in the gemological department and one of them will be reaching out to your within 24 hours to see if you need any assistance in finalizing a purchase. After that time we will release them back to our inventory.

To finalize a purchase, simply call our Customer Service department at 877-826-9866. We are staffed to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any additional questions. I hope to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,

can you post the IS?

I don't know if I have the link to the H VVS stone. Post the IS images for the 2.17 G and for the H.

1540577id.jpg

The images only came as jpgs - hopefully they will open

The email w/ the images had no link just jpeg attachments - I can't get them to open on this site

what you need to do is save them to your computer, you could just drag them from the email to your desktop which would be easiest.

there are a few ways to do it, but the easier would be to go to make a post, then under the body of the post where you can type, theres a tab you can click "options" and "upload attachment"... click the attachment one, and browse your desktop to select the image.
you can only do one image per post this way, so youll have to do it for all the images you want to post.

the other way would be to click on the insert attachment icon on above the body of the post. you can post multiple pics in one post, but it takes a lot longer, because you have to save then click it to put it in your body, and the saving takes a while.

ETA if you hit preview first you can check to make sure itll post right :)

They are all fine. I'd probably take the 2.17 even though it is just a little deep.

Thats what JA said - what do you look for in the image to tell the difference - they all look good to me?

hmm well i think you wouldnt be able to tell a difference in light performance, but you would be able to tell a difference in size. so id probably go with the 2.17.

had you decided to go with the tacori or to get quotes from the hand forged vendors?

not positive yet - my wife is pretty set on the tacori - we will decide tomorrow

oh i cant wait to hear what you decide! im in love with those french cut sides, but whatever you get this ring will be fantastic. ill be excited to see the final product.(cant even imagine how your wife feels  )

Thanks... I'll be sure to post

The Blue nile image came in so I figured I would post it - no IS just the image. I'm leaning toward the 2.o1 or 2,17 from JA

That is a very nice image but you can't really tell about leakage with that one. One thing I wanted to mention is that I wouldn't like getting a diamond that was 2.00 cts (can't remember all the weights exactly) because it it ever had a little chip that had to be polished out, it could take it below the 2 ct. mark. That is not a common occurrence but it can happen. That is one reason I was leaning toward the 2.17 even though it is a bit deep.

I hope you will come back with pictures of the finished ring! I know it is going to be outstanding!!!
