Hey Everyone!

So, I'm new to PriceScope but I'm extremely impressed by how helpful and knowledgeable everyone seems to be when it comes to ring shopping. I've decided that I'm definitely going to purchase a 3/4 eternity channel set wedding band from Facets based on all of the rave reviews that I've seen about them on the forums so far (so thank you all for that).

However, I'm SO torn as to which band width to get from Facets. I know that the difference between a 2.3mm and 2.5mm band is very small, but I only have a 4.5 ring size and short fingers. Therefore, even a few mm can make a big difference on my hand. However, I also am planning on keeping the bands separated so that I can wear the wedding band from Facets solo sometimes, so I want to also make sure that the band is substantial enough to wear on its own.

My fiance proposed to me over the 4th of July with a beautiful RB solitaire from Blue Nile in their comfort fit setting. I think that the width of my band for my e ring is 2.5mm, but it seems a little more narrow than that because it's high dome and not flat? I've attached a couple of pictures of my e ring to give you an idea of how much real estate it already takes up on my finger (sorry for the really bad resolution on the one picture).

I would appreciate any feedback regarding whether the 2.3mm or 2.5mm channel set band from Facets would be best for me. Also, if you have any pictures of the 2.5mm band (I found a lot of pictures of the 2.3mm but not the 2.5mm), I would love to see them to get a better idea of what the 2.5mm looks like in real life!

Thanks in advance for your help with my decision :)

Welcome to PS, Michelle! Your e-ring is beautiful!

I'd absolutely go with the 2.5mm if you ever want to wear the band alone. My band is 2 mm and it is way too thin to ever wear alone. My daughter's wedding band is 2.5mm and I'll post a pic.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and advice DiamondSeeker! If that's your ring in your avatar picture, all I can say is WOW!!!

Your daughter's e ring and band are absolutely gorgeous as well-thank you so much for posting a picture for me to see. Do you have any idea what the width of her solitaire band is for her e ring? It looks like it might be around 2mm?

My wedding ring is around 2.1mm and I also think it's too thin to wear on its own (my ring size is smaller than yours, for perspective).

Thank you for the feedback and pictures Logan Sapphire! Both of your rings are absolutely beautiful btw :)

It's starting to look like I should really look towards getting the 2.5mm channel set band from Facets based on everyone's input so far...

Logan Sapphire-I just have to also say that I'm not sure if it's your long slender fingers (which I'm very envious of since I have such short fingers myself), but your RB diamond looks huge on your hand! Do you mind me asking if it's around 1 carat like mine?

I went through the same dilemma when choosing my Facets wedding band! And like you, I wanted a 3/4 eternity (although now I wish I would have got a full eternity because it does spin). I ended up with the 2.3mm band (and my e-ring width is 2.7mm):

My finger size is a 4 so I have small fingers like you. I would contact Facets and see if they can send you in-stock samples of both rings. They might not be your size but it still helps to see them in real life before making your decision. You just have to put a deposit down on both rings that they return when you send them back. That's what they did for me but they only had the thin ring in rubies but at least I was able to get an idea of what they both looked like:

Here is another thread comparing their 2.3mm band versus their 2.6mm band, which might be helpful:

Good luck!

Thank you stargurl78! Your message and the links that you provided in your message are very, very helpful :)

I would prefer to get a full eternity, but I know that it's more practical for me to get the 3/4 just in case my ring size changes in the future at any point (i.e. after having a baby, etc.).

Can I ask if you're happy with the 2.3mm width for your Facets band since your e ring width is 2.7mm? Do you ever wish you had gone with the 2.5mm choice instead of the 2.3mm?

Thanks so much! I waited a looong time for this diamond (anniversary gift)! I wore a 1 ct stone in a solitaire setting for many years first!

My daughter's diamond is 1 ct and the width of her e-ring band is no more than 2mm. I think either width is fine with your ring, but I think 2.5-2.6 works better when you don't want to wear the e-ring.

It would be great if you could order both in whatever size they have closest to your size just to try them on and see, and then return them and have them make exactly what you want.

Thank you for your response DiamondSeeker. I'm fairly certain that I'm going to wind up going with the 2.5mm option at this point. I also want the band to be 3/4 eternity with rounded edges, so that's going to turn it into a customized option with Facets.

All of this feedback has been so incredibly helpful. Thank you to everyone who has already posted replies, and I would love to hear from more people if you have any pictures or opinions on this as well.

No problem! I decided on the 3/4 eternity for the exact same reasons. I like my rings to not be too snug and I think that's why it does tend to spin. So you might not even have to worry about that. I am 7 months pregnant right now though and I'm happy to say that my rings still fit perfectly. Hopefully I can still say that after the baby comes! 8)

I am very happy with the 2.3mm next to my 2.7mm e-ring and I've never wished I would have went with the thicker band. I felt that the thicker band took away from my center stone a little more so the thinner one just looked better overall with my set. But when I asked a few friends and family which one they preferred, the vote was pretty much split half and half. That's why I think its best to be able to see them in person first since it really comes down to what you think looks best overall. You really can't go wrong either way though!

Thank you again for such a helpful response Stargurl and CONGRATULATIONS on the soon to be new arrival! I've spoken with many of my friends who have already had children, and all of them say that their ring sizes have not changed. However, I know that if I decided to gamble with a full eternity band that I would end up being the lucky one whose size did go up after having a baby ;)) Therefore, as much as I would love to have a full eternity band, I don't think that I should take the chance.

I think that I'm probably going to end up getting the 2.5mm channel set band mostly because I really want to be able to wear it without the e-ring periodically. However, your 2.3mm band looks just gorgeous with your e-ring, and it's very tempting for me to go with the 2.3mm band instead :)

Thank you, we are very excited! I do think its a good idea to go with the 3/4 eternity if you haven't had kids yet. I know I would be upset if I had gone with the full eternity and then my finger size ends up changing.

It sounds like you are making a good choice - if you plan to wear the band alone sometimes, the thicker band is probably your best bet. And you can never go wrong with larger diamonds! ;)) Make sure you come back with pictures once you get it!

My Tiffany 2mm Channel set is actually 2.2, and I have worn it on it's own just fine without feeling it was too thin.

Thank you for posting the pictures of your ring Ame! I've actually been thinking that I should just visit my local Tiffany's store to try on bands since their channel sets seem to be so similar to the one that the Facets Collection offers. Your rings are gorgeous! Do you happen to know what the width of your e-ring band is on your solitaire?

StarGurl, I'll definitely post pictures once I finally have my band! I probably won't be ordering it until we get closer to the holidays, since my destination wedding will be April 8th in Punta Cana.

Give it a whirl! My ering is I believe 2.25 or 2.3mm wide. So almost identical to my band in width. I wore a 1.9mm micropave band before I owned the Tiffany with it, and it worked perfectly as well, because of the different setting style, which is why I was sad that the metro was not in platinum.
