I used to post on here a few years back and have been lurking more recently. The reason for the lurking - I got engaged on Valentine's Day! The diamond is an older (but unfortunately not OMC or OEC) family diamond that his mom gave us. He had it reset in Gabriel & Co setting 7293 in 14K white gold.
We are waiting to get the appraisal in the mail to see the stats on the diamond. They told him it is .65 carats, but that's all we know for sure until the paperwork arrives. (He was too nervous picking up the ring to ask then.
) It isn't as clear as I would like it to be - I can see some inclusions. Sometimes it looks bright white, and sometimes it looks like it has a little color. It depends on the lighting. Honestly, we really didn't see the color until it was next to the bright side stones in this setting. I would guess maybe an I in color, but I'm certainly no expert. The girl at the jewelry store said the cut was good, but she wasn't an appraiser, so I don't know how good that info was. But anyway, we were thankful for the diamond, and his mom is really honored that I am wearing it. Having just bought a house and furniture, it saved him a lot of money that wasn't in the budget at the moment anyway. He said that we might replace it at some point with an antique cushion cut, which is what I really wanted before we got this stone.
The ring is super sparkly. It is a size 6.5 and gives just the right amount of finger coverage. When I was searching for pictures of the setting, I couldn't find any hand shots - only the vendor images - so I thought I'd post some of my own.
