Jackie O''s pearls were not real either. They were made by Kenneth J Lane and are on display at the smithsonian. Same for Nancy Reagans and Barbara Bush''s.
Jackie O wore fake pearls????? Well, I''ll go to the foot of our stairs

She, as well as Princess Diana, occassionally wore costume jewelry. I know Barbara Bush''s were fake as well.

There''s a terrific book "People & Pearls" where you''ll find some amazing photographs. Everyone from Josephine Baker to Amelia Earhart in pearls. The book talks about Coco Chanel, who wore layers and layers of pearls, many of those strands were fake.

I don''t doubt that Miss Pelosi owns Majorcan pearls, but she does own a strand of real mixed south seas. A dear friend is part owner of a couple of pearl farms, one in Tahiti and one in Indonesia, and he sells his pearls to (among other places world wide) a jewelry store in the San Francisco area. That jeweler sold Miss Pelosi her mixed strand.

What a small pearl world this is!

Really like these earrings Megan Fox wore recently.

Did you mean eastern royalty? Many of the Maharajas not only enjoyed wearing them but were avid collectors and connoisseurs. In 1928 Bupindar Singh famously turned up unannounced at Boucherons Paris, accompanied by his Sikh bodyguards who were carrying 6 iron trunks of gems which included rare grey pearls, rubies and over 7 and a half thousand diamonds and 1,432 large emeralds with a total weight of 7,800 carats. The Maharana of Dholpur was said to have the finest collection of pearls in India. The last Tsar of Russia is supposed to have offered Naharana Nihal Singh forty million rupees for one string. Mahraja''s Jewels by Prior and Adamson is a fascinating book.

Hey, it does look like that too!

This photo shows Sita Devi wearing a diamond necklace which features The Star of the South, a Brazilian diamond that had been bought in the 1860s.

Remember the Diana ''Elvis'' dress? It was studded with pearls.

Here''s a link to the picture and there''s also some other links to famous people and their pearls.

I am the most unfashionable person ever. I look at that dress and wonder how uncomfortable it must be to sit in it - and if it might damage the pearls.

"La Liz", Princess Diana and Jackie have/had some of the most beautiful pearl sets, imo
