All of my ring nestle into my finger, no matter how loose and make them look too tight :angryfire:

Has anybody else experienced this and know how to fix it?

Thanks!

How long have to skipped wearing a ring? I know I get "indents" that go away if I take off all my rings for a couple days.

avatar are on the left... :wink2:

Impossible to solve this problem but I know what I see on your avatar is ring really too tight. I have fat finger too and I wear 9.25 to avoid the problem. Have you ever try a ring 2 points larger to see the difference?

Go at least a size larger, if not a couple sizes, and get some sizing beads soldered inside the band. The sizing beads will keep it from spinning quite well. That'll help a lot. I've got no knuckles to speak of, so it's really easy for me to get the fabulous sausage finger effect you speak of. So I like my rings particularly loose to avoid it.

Adding a wedding band makes all your rings tighter too. So even if your engagement ring is fine by itself it isn't that unusual that it is tighter fitting with a second ring, if that's something you added recently. Plus if you're like me, your finger changes sizes at different times of day, at different temperatures, and so on- which makes it even more annoying. Sizing beads were a lifesaver IMO; they make a ring fit well over a variety of size changes actually- they keep it from spinning when your finger is smaller, and give your finger some place to swell (other than over the edges of the band, lol) when you need *that*.

How many sizes up have you tried? Maybe you should try a couple more unless there's fear they would be too loose.

Thanks everyone :) LGK - that sounds like a great idea with the beads. My fingers are anywhere between a 6.25 to 7.5 depending on the day. When I just had the ering I still had the pudgy finger look but it spun like crazy and drove me nuts. Adding the band tightened it up and it doesn't spin as much but the pudgy finger look is worse :errrr: I have a plain 3mm size 8 band and that slips on and off very easily (after a few hours it indents). Should I try size 8 with beads?

I have the same issue. I wear a 5.5 on my bloatiest days and can easily do a 5 without redness/swelling. I find that 5.5 is a good fit for hot days and around my cycle when I tend to retain water. Sometimes even that's too loose, but I have no knuckles so I end up with that same sausage look. My fingers just aren't lean. But going up to a size 6 means I lose rings (it's happened!) I can't go up to a 6 and keep my rings safe, but I still look pudgy if I do a 5.5. The sizing beads are a GREAT suggestion. I think I'll try this!

Go up in size and perhaps consider a euroshank or beads. Also a thinker shank (i.e., greater height off the finger) helps I have found because it makes the ring look even with the fatter part of the finger.

That sounds like a good size. You can get the beads made in really any size- the ones in my old setting were very large. I wear anything from a 4.5-5.5, and this ring was like... a 7 or 8? *Huge*, like falling-off huge, in other words. It fit my middle finger quite well actually! So, since it was unsizeable, I had very large sizing beads put in it. While it would still spin a bit when it was the depths of winter and I was really cold, it made it possible to wear it and there was definitely no sausage finger from that setting. It took me a day or so to get used to the larger beads, but after that I seriously never noticed them. So you could, IMO, take your ring up to a size where it is for sure too loose w/o beads, and then get the larger beads put in.

And ditto to Dreamer- rings with more height and some ornateness hide the ol' finger muffin top pretty well too- I had my new setting made at a 5.25- which, with the thickish shank, definitely causes sausage finger when I'm warm or retaining water or whatever- and IRL (as opposed to blown up pics  ) the height of the setting hides the effect pretty well. I think your ring is a pretty good one for camouflaging it too, since it looks more ornate. If you ever consider resetting though, you might keep the height thing in mind though.

I love how a ring looks on a "plumper" finger. I think it makes the ring look prettier somehow, almost juicy (I know I'm a weirdo ::) ). I have perpetually dry scrawny hands and wrists and feel that my hands aren't the best showcase for rings, bracelets and watches.

I think I love you! LOL!

A jeweler (Asian) friend once told me after I complained, meaty fingers are considered lucky in Chinese culture. Okay, I'll buy that ;)

I'm all kinds of lucky then!!!

Yay!!! I'm lucky too! ...why doesn't it feel that way?

I hate my chubby fingers. Thank goodness I adore my rings and I try to simply gaze at them instead of my overweight digits.

DD, what is an euroshank? How does it looks like?

Sorry OP for this slight threadjack!

The outside of the shank, underneath the finger, is squared off with metal to help prevent spinning.

lol! if it makes you feel any better-it really nothing to do with weight! I was a professional dancer right out of conservatory in several companies. At a size 2, 105 pounds, my fingers still did this.

It sounds like you have a similar issue to what happens to me. In the winter I can wear anywhere from a 6 to a 6.75, but in the summer I need a 7 to 7.25. I can't wear rings that are wide at the shoulders (SO not comfortable...feels like sticks between the fingers), so I'm careful to choose tapered silhouettes like cathedral styles. I have an engagement ring that is worn in an insert style ring guard for winter, and I just ordered the matching thin (2.5mm) wedding band to be a matched set for warmer weather.

I don't know what size your rings are currently, but they look like they are two sizes too small with the way your finger looks like it has a corset on. God forbid you injure your left hand, those rings are getting cut off your finger. I strongly suggest you take them into your jeweler, have them put the rings on a mandrel, and see what size they are. Use a wide sizer (approximately the same width as your two rings put together), and see what your current size is. We gain weight or lose weight, and our finger size changes. I wore a 6.5 for years, but after having children I found a 6.75 to be more comfortable. Despite the 7 being lose in the winter, my fingers will swell up the moment it gets warm outside and I'll need a little room for swelling. It's better to get them sized up and potentially have the ring need sizing balls or be a tiny bit lose than to be feeling the pulse in your finger because your rings are too tight.

Two sizes up would be a 9 and at that size as soon as my finger points down the ring falls off. If my rings have to be cut off to save my finger than so be it. I'm not sure a larger size would save them anyway if my finger is swollen. I'm going to drop them off tomorrow for sizing and beads. Also the close up photo really magnifies it too.

Ditto. I'm not so skinny now, but even when I was *tiny*- same size as you basically in my early 20s- my fingers were still just as squishy. Smaller, but squishy. I think it has to do with bone structure a lot, I have tiny bones and thus, no knuckles and squishy, kid-like hands. I might be in my '30s but my hands like a 9 year old's! (Not a good thing :rodent: )

Excuse me but I doubt of this but if it's really what you said, add bead size like everybody suggest here! You ask for a solution, I think it's a good one.

Perhaps if you show another pic I can change my mind too but with your avatar, I'm pretty sure you are 2 sizes too small.

I tried on DH size 9 wedding band. That is how I know. And I know that the photo looks bad but I can get those rings off without issue. It just looks terrible because my knuckles are a lot smaller. I have funny tapered fingers

And do you believe if you had sizing balls in the 9 it will fit?

Sparkly Blonde, I don't suppose you would post another pic of your rings/hand, not so tight cropped? I am sure that would make it easier to see.

I'm a little confused by your last comment about how your knuckles are a lot smaller... sorry, I must be having a slow day, but smaller than what, do you mean? Apologies for my obtuseness!

I'm assuming she means smaller than the base of her fingers. On my finger the widest part is the base. You know how some people have to have their rings sized to fit over their knuckle? Not so much here. My knuckle is around a size 3.5, my ring size is 5-5.5.

Exactly!

Here's a photo of a size 9 (two sizes up on my finger) and of a euro shank (not my ring)

I totally hear you. Size 6.5 falls off me, (literally, I'll be retrieving it throughout the day) but it STILL manages to indent my finger!

So what size is the ring in the avatar? I think if that's a 7, I'd go 8 with beads. It does look too tight. I understand it doesn't feel too tight (I have the same issue!) but to me a ring is there for admiration-it's a piece of art-and I want to showcase it properly!

Though smaller sizes are more comfy to wear, I go up to 5.5 because that's the "in between stage" of where it won't fall off, but it doesn't look so squeezy. In the winter I can add an extra band to tighten things up if need be.
