*looking up sillage*

Have you found it yet??
31.gif
Yes. It''s slang for silage, which is the stuff farmers put in their silos.
25.gif
You silly! I got "wake", like the wake that a ship leaves. Hee hee. Silos. Grain. Nice.

At first it''s a little overwhelming, but after about an hour or so it settles in and, like Lorelei said, someone might have to be smooching my neck to smell it. Wait, that wasn''t QUITE what she said...

It does remind me of a graphic novel with a gorgeous, myterious blonde with red lipstick in a smoky bar. It''s got lots of tobacco smell in it and lots of leather. I don''t have a nose like Lor so I can''t pick out the flowers but it does end up vanilla-y. Like vanilla tobacco though, not like vanilla extract in cookies.

Oooh, that sounds yummy. Honestly, are you two SURE you''re not getting paid?? lol Your descriptions are so graphic...

Gosh, I just spray some on and think it smells good.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=silage

*shrugs*

And thusly, the vital difference between ''dictionary.com'' and ''urbandictionary.com'' is demonstrated. HEE!

Though, I do like their example sentences.
9.gif
Well, that wasn''t the only one I found that said that.
25.gif

However, her sentence makes more sense with my definition than yours.

Egads.

Anyway I guess sillage is the word of the day. I''ll try to use it in a sentence later. Perhaps a sentence about agriculture.

Sillage in perfumery means to leave a delicate trail of scent in your wake.....

That''s true about Angel, as you mentioned earlier. I''ve never minded the sillage of Angel, it''s a fantastic smell. Especially the men''s version. It gives any man an unfair advantage, as far as I''m concerned.

Why didn''t you just say that to begin with?

Better a lovely scented trail that remains after you have made your exit than a terrible odor announcing your imminent arrival! I know people who douse themselves in terrible scents and you KNOW they are about to enter the room!

Well i think you should be paid substantial comission Lorelie from fishbonefragrances. Because i have just wasted 30 minutes on the site and have now sent of a lengthy email pleading with her to help me find my signature scent.

Preferably in perfume!

I wear Ralph Lauren Romance fairly regularly, and I just bought some Thierry Mugler Angel. I wore it to a friend''s wedding a couple of weeks ago and I swear I never had a such a reaction to a perfume! I got stopped by a waiter in the corridor who identified the perfume and told me his wife wears it. The girls at my table were begging for sprays of it. One of them brought her husband over to smell me!!!

This Nocturnes de Caron you''re all talking about sounds very yummy... hmmm...

I like to smell Angel, it seems that some people aren''t keen, but I enjoy it!

Del, it is Tabac Blond that is the perfume we are drooling over and believe me, it is WORTH the drooling!!!! I tried Nocturnes years ago and it is on my radar to be sampled again in the near future!

Two all time favorite Perfumes:

La Ligne de St. Barth Vanille West Indies
Indult Tihota

I must say a lot of the Lutens are great. tried another mimosa/orange blossomy one and really started to like it more and more all day, fresh but sweet too, summery but not too much. LOVE it. His are all so different from the typical scents...

DF, how is the Daim Blond? Are you enjoying it????? It is very leathery?

L, it is not too leathery. It has a note I cannot figure out and smells a lot like Clive Christian''s X...which I also really like.

I was reading up on it and it said that the leathery note was more like a soft suede....

I love love love Lolita Lempicka and Yves Saint Laurent''s Cinema! :)

HI:

Popped into Sephora for a nanosecond yesterday, long enough to spray the Serge Lutens Datura Noir. I really loved it, but by the time I got home, it seemed to be nonexistent.
8.gif
Diamondfan, do you find this with the new one you bought?

cheers--Sharon

no, the two or three sprayed stayed for a while. I recall the citrus one, and the Daim Blond which I got, and yesterday at lunch sprayed the orange flower one, and at dinner it still had a faint smell.

Creed has a great new one, Royal Island Water, which I loved, but it seriously lasted 5 minutes and all the SA''s told me that it is not staying on anyone at all. Literally could not even smell it faintly after about 5 minutes, it was as if I had not sprayed it on.

Lutens has not made body products so I am not sure how to give it staying power since you cannot layer it. But everyone''s chemistry is different. I have worn scents and gotten compliments on it that other people hated on anyone else, like they cannot imagine this is the same scent since it smells nice on me. Pregnancy did change my chemisty though.

You know that drives me INSANE when a fragrance has zip lasting power, especially with how much they cost - grrr!!!! I don''t think 3 or 4 hours is too much to expect for a fragrance to last, it is almost as if perfume companies are scared to make their wares too strong, but lack of staying power really seems to be becoming a problem these days ( fragrance companies take note!!!!)

DF - you could try an unscented lotion with the Lutens and see if that helps....
