Hey- just looking for suggestions. I really like dark nailpolish for the winter months and find I have been using the same two over and over-

Essie- Wicked
Essie- Licorice

I would love suggestions to switch it up :)

OPI Black Cherry Chutney.

I love this too, and Royal Rajah Ruby. Another one I like is a drugstore find, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in FLIRT, which is a dark purple. I have not found another purple like it. I don't like non-shimmery polish for some reason. Then again I RARELY wear polish. I usually have no nails--no white showing--and my cuticles are gross. They're particularly bad when I am working on an invite order, paper kills my hands. And I hate lotions, I always need to wash my hands afterwards.

Ooh that sounds good!

I like OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark and OPI Onyx

Love the suggestions! One friend of mine swears by Lincoln Park After Dark. The Black Cherry Chutney sounds good :)

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark +1 (love that colour!!!)
and OPI Royal Rajah Ruby - deep purplish black red. (gee, put that way, sounds disgusting, but its amazing on your hand!!)

OPI All Bordeaux the Sleigh.

I love the Essie colors, but I have an extremely difficult time applying their polish. OPI seems to go on much smoother.

Chanel Vendetta

I always do shellac these days and I love rock royalty, fedora, asphalt, and black pool (all of which I believe cnd has a regular polish for of the same name). I also love You Don't Know Jaques by OPI. It's a gorgeous brown.

Great suggestions!

oooh, just tried Devil's Advocate- Essie, it's a deep purple almost black

I love Chanel's Rouge Noir, and the lipstick to match. Not sure how good it really looks with my pale blue skin and red hair, but I love it.

HI:

Never wear polish and certainly not dark colors: BUT but, out of my comfort zone, new Spring color for Chanel, called "April". Plum crossed with a hint of brick? Toes tonite--fingers tomorrow?

cheers--Sharon

Post pics! Sounds interesting, (cool) plum + (warm) brick...

Essie Smokin' Hot. I always get compliments when I wear this! It's a dark, purple-based grey. It almost looks navy in some lighting. Sally Hansen Grey Area is almost identical and costs about $3 at the drugstore.

Zoya Lael (red burg cream)

I have two favorites: OPI Midnight in Moscow and OPI My Private Jet.

Revlon's Naughty--which I am told is an exact dupe for Chanel's Paradoxical. Deep plum undershot with a subtle gold.

HI:

Does any one here mix colors to get the "right" shade? I was thinking of experimenting with my Nars super sheer (faint sparkle) gold with this new dark color. Or use it as a top coat?

cheers--Sharon

Hello---I do this all the time. I generally use pale pinks and mauves and blend and mix them with white to get different intensities. I also have different metallic glitter I use--a coat of color, a coat of metallic, another coat of color, and so on until I get the desired effect. You need mainly patience and a few basic colors.
Have fun!

Sharon, how do you find the wear on Chanel polishes? I have never used them myself...

OPI - Bogota Blackberry is my absolute fave! It isn't overly dark and professional enough for work.

NARS Tokaido Express is awesome as well.

I'm not Sharon, but I've used Chanel forever and find that it lasts about the same as Essie/OPI as long as you use a good topcoat like Seche Vite. My all time Chanel fav is Lilac Sky.

Amber:

Thank for the top coat tip! Like I said I am not a polish wearer--but think I need to "progress" (heehehe) and found the Chanel very nice to use. Soar so good!

Don't know the brand name but just did a pure glossy black called "midnight" on my toes ... during a trip to the Caribbean no less. Still digging it a couple of weeks later. More than I would a tropical pink now that I'm back in the brrrrrry Northeast Winter.

I love black and dark dark shades- i think they are just more flattering on me.
