Hey Lil,
I sold that pear shape a few years ago. To the best of my recollection it was about 1.20 carats and about $8000

AS far as cut of fancy color diamonds: there's so many little tricks the cutters can use to increase color. There are times a cutter submits the stone to GIA, gets, for example, a Fancy Yellow. Since the cutter is convinced he's got an intense, he'll work a little more on the stone and re-submit. in many cases the color can be improved enough to get the next darker ( more expensive) grade. Most of these "tricks" invlove facets on the bottom of the stone. Round diamonds, IMO, never look as good as colorless Rounds.
Radiant, pear, oval really look great in fancy colors- there are a wide variety of depth and tables that look good on these shapes- generally, fancy color diamonds have large tables ( 65-80%) and many of these look really good.
For those who love 8star, I'm sure that type of pattern looks great- but I love a fancy color with the "bucket of crushed ice" look.
The diamond in this post is 58.2% depth, 76% table. This is the look I'm talkng about- it's really the opposite of the organised 8 star pattern- If you love the 8star, then that's the way to go- but the stone on this page shows the other side of the diamond cut coin.
The color is Y-Z natural Light Yellow.
The fancy color radiant cut diamonds lend themselves to these proportions.

PS- I keep forgetting to SAY HI WIN!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear that fancydiamonds.net is a well respected company, and that there is nothing strange or 'too good to be true' about their pricing!

Valeria,

About cut quality on colored diamonds....I understand that it's a whole different ballgame than with colorless diamonds, but my concern is that if I buy a colored diamond I don't want the cut to make it look like just any colored stone.....I want it to have the life and sparkle of a diamond. Not all of the smaller colored diamonds I looked at online seemed to have that liveliness. Any suggestions to make sure I don't get a dud? (When I someday actually purchase one, that is.)

Hi All-

Melissa,

I'm glad you've found value at Fancydiamonds.net- Of course there are thousands of folks who would say that Diamonds by Lauren has the widest selection and best prices on Natural Fancy Colored diamonds on the web. Also- as opposed to the company you've mentioned, Diamonds by Lauren is an American company. I think a lot of folks are hesitant to do business with a company located overseas

In answer to your question abut getting a dud- make sure to buy from someone who's knowledgable and has integrity. There are so many variables on fancy colored diamonds- and no formulas work to try and use to understand them. I do not agree that formulas work to quantify round diamonds, but trying to use such formulas on most fancy colored/ fancy shaped diamonds is a total waste of time.

Win- I'm a downhill skiier- just waiting for the snow in Vermont!

Hi David,

Just found your message after all this time. Unfortunately, while you may offer excellent values dollar for dollar, your inventory doesn't seem to include many diamonds of the colors I'm interested in of the sizes and prices I can consider. And while fancydiamonds.net is not an American company, they do have an American office.

Do you have more selection than what is offered in your ebay store? If so where could I see said selection? (But I don't want you to go to too much trouble, as I've spent entirely too much on jewelry recently and will have to wait.)

P.S. I don't really ski, but am totally jealous about snow!
