I''ve never had problems with eyeshadow creasing...but then again I''m asian with a monolid, lol.

One of the reasons I''m leaning towards doing my own makeup is that everytime I''ve had someone else do my makeup, I end up looking like an overdone geisha girl. Even the Estee Lauder people didn''t know quite how to do a "subtle" makeup look with me because my eyes and skin tones are so different.

Loreal Touche Magique concealor

Barry M Dazzle Dust eye shadow pots (I have about 40 shades)

Mac blot powder.

Ooops, double post.

I''m a fan of Bobbie Brown''s long-wearing gel eye-liner. I apply it with an angled brush so I can get the inner rims of the eye-lid.

ETA: I also love Benefit''s Benetint, a rose-tinted lip & cheek stain.

BTW, for those M.A.C. fans, they are having a sale on their website where everything is 25% off online.

I second both the Bobbie Brown and Benefit!!! The gel eyeliner goes on sooo well with the correct BB brush, and the BB brushes are SO NICE. As for *other* Bobby Brown products- eh. A lot of my powder ones break easily

Benefit''s Benetint AND Posietint are AWESOME.

I''m also DIYing my wedding makeup: I''ll likely be using Smashbox photo finish primer, MakeUpForever Matte finish full-coverage foundation, my Bobbie Brown gel eyeliner, Benetint for my lips (it wont fade or rub off- Benetint + Chapstick= AWESOME), Nars blush, and... the worlds best mascara ever... DIOR-SHOW!!!

i''m been dying to try dior show! everyone keeps raving about it! what do you love about it?

The huge, amazing brush, for starters! And the fact that it makes my short, thin, light lashes look SUPER full and long and amazing, without creating a huge gloppy mess. :sigh: It''s totally worth the $28 a tube.

OMG. I LOVE THEM! I bought one from Topshop two years ago and use it sparingly because it''s my absolute most favourite shimmer dust! I can''t find it anywhere here in North America

Makingthegrade, I''m so sorry that you''ver had bad experiences with people doing your makeup! If you ever decide to get help again, here''s a few suggestions:

An Asian makeup artist might more experience doing makeup on Asians. Similarily, you might want to look at makeup artists and see if any of them have similar coloring to you. If you like their makeup, give them a try (or if you see someone being made over and you like her makeup, try out her makeup artisit).
Let your makeup artist know that you want a natural look

Where have you had your makeup done? I find that some stores, like MAC, tend to do makeovers with a heavier hand. I love MAC makeup, but I think a lot of their makeup artists apply woth a heavy hand and/or use bright colors. Other stores, like Bobbi Brown, tend to favor a more natural look.

I''m happy to give more suggestions, just ask!

Makingthegrade, I'm so sorry that you'ver had bad experiences with people doing your makeup! If you ever decide to get help again, here's a few suggestions:

Thanks! I've had my makeup done at Mac, Estee Lauder, and even Sephora (which you think would work well..but not) and told them I wanted a natural bridal look. All of them have been caucasian women though, and it's in an area where there aren't many asians in general, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't have much practice with monolids and asian skin types. Haha, although when I go back to china and see the makeup counter girls there who are selling high end makeup in expensive department stores, they look like little geisha dolls too, so maybe it's not the artists' fault for thinking that's what asian girls should look like..hehe.

It's ok, to be honest, I'm too much of a control freak to have someone else do my make up for me, especially since I'm planning from out of town so the wedding day would be the first time I met the person, I can't schedule a trial. So I'm just relying on you lovely ladies to point me in the right direction in terms of makeup pointers!

I just ordered the Nars blush/bronzer combo. And I have Korres foundation and finishing powder which I LOVE (very light and silky). Just have to figure out mascara and eyeliner and I'll be set! And there have been some great suggestions here, so I'll have to try them out :) I have EXTREMELY short eyelashes though, as in when I open my eyes, you barely just see them. Even when I put mascara on..you can't really see a difference because there's just so little there. But I don't think I look like "me" with falsies, so I might just skip this step, shh, don't tell anyone!

And if anyone with combo/oily skin is looking for a nice moisturizer, I highly recommend Estee Lauder's Daywear Plus cream. It has a really refreshing cucumber smell, and feels just great. It has VitE and a light SPF, and it lasts a really long time (at least it does for me, but I tend to use very little of it because you only need a very thin layer if you're combo/oily like I am). For what it's worth, ever since I've used it my skin has been uber soft and clear and comfortable.

Makingthegrade, I hope you don''t think I was trying to talk you into using a makeup artist at your wedding! I was just trying to figure out a way for you to get your makeup done at the mall and learn about different products!

I''d actually highly rec wearing false eyelashes for your wedding. However, I''d rec using eyelashes that are cut to fiit the shape/size of your normal lashes. Also, you might want to look into cutting them to be shorter than your eyelashes---and by this I mean not starting all the way at your tearduct. I only wear false eyelashes for special occasions, but they really do look amazing in photos. They''re a little uncomfortable at first, but you shouldn''t notice them after a few mins. MAC and Shu Uemura make great flase eyelashes, and they can be reused as long as you keep them clean. Maybe you can even get a good makeup artist to cut a pair for you to use for your wedding!

If you don''t want to use false eyelashes, I love diorshow mascara.

No worries CaliCushion :)

Thanks to you gals, I placed a make up order a few days ago, and my NARS orgasm blush and laguna bronzer combo came today! This is my first time every trying to apply either blush or bronzer. I decided to try to do my makeup, boy is it exhausting. Bravo to you gals who manage to do this easily and quickly, because it took me forever!

Here''s a pic of me tired out and exasperated for my efforts, but I do have to say, the NARS blush and bronzer is excellent! I swear, I''ll get the hang of this eventually! My only problem is that the camera really does wash out the color, in the mirror, the plush is more prominent by a bit. Oh well.

THanks so much for all your suggestions! I ended up going to MAC yesterday and they did a makeover on me. The eyeliner was a little heavy, but I really liked the general idea.

I think I''m going to go with the Smashbox light primer, and see how that works.

This post is a little late, but I LOVE The Present from Philosphy. It''s a primer, one bottle lasts FOREVER ( mine lasted about 6 months), you don''t need alot, and I found it less greasy than even the Smashbox Photo Finish Light.

I use Bare Minerals for everything, including eye shadow, but I agree with a previosu post that the Bare Minerals probably isn''t havey enough to pictures. I think on me it looks good in person, but when I looked at pictures, I looked WAY shiny. I used Estee Lauder foundation for my wedding. Actually, I went to Estee Lauder, got a foundation match, got a sample bottle, bought some mascara (didn''t want to waste their time and not buy anything, or have the intention of buying anything). That way, I had enough foundation in their sample size for my wedding, plus nice mascara.

I love Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, it''s like an instant face lift in a bottle, makes your skin go nice and frim and your makeup glides on smooth and even.

I''m also a little late on this one! I''m def. a MAC girl...and they''re very good about letting you have samples of things to try out. I love their primers more so than Smashbox. They have two diff. face primers, on has SPF and is a "glue-like" consistency the other is similar to Smashbox''s but has a bit of shimmer in it. The glue like one with SPF is by far. my fav, my makeup def. stiks and I don''t think it feels heavy at all. I have a blush of theirs I LOVE, its called Springsheen, however I think that might have been limited edition? Anyhow, I bought a great eye liner from Sephora its by CK, and its similar to a felt tip pen. It''s very easy to use and IMO smudgeproof. I rec. you use an eye primer as well, UD Primer Potion is one of my faves, but I also use Too Faced Shadow Insurance, which is very similar to UDPP there''s just much less wasted product in the end.
