Love this as a favor! So unique and usable! I like the fancier harp better myself!

I thought I should give credit to the restaurant that inspired this idea. There's a place called the Ugly Oyster Drafthaus in Reading, PA that has pint glasses with a Guiness based logo and thier own restaurant info. Of course I stole one

and it's always been one of our favorite glasses. So it's not a totally original idea, but I did have to teach myself a lot about PaintShop (a lot for me anyway) to be able to make it look so nice. I'm pretty proud of myself for that at least.

So cute...I love that idea! And who doesnt like the thrill of stealing a glass from their favorite pub!

I think these are terrific favors! In fact, it is the only non-consumable favor that I have ever seen and thought that I would use (and love to get!).

I like the fancier logo better, but both are great.

Can I ask you a question (or two) about your pub quiz? Where does it fall in your timeline? And, how many rounds are you going to have? We are starting to write our questions for ours now!

Uhh, those are really good questions that I should know the answer to, but I haven''t thought that far ahead

I *think* it will fall after dinner and during the dancing portion. There will be a break in dancing and everyone will go back to their tables to answer questions as a team (or they can just stay on the dance floor and not participate, if they want to be party poopers

). I think maybe 2-3 rounds of 4 questions each?? I really don''t know.

The trivia we play at a bar allows you to pick a point value for the question as you''re answering it. So in the first round, you can assign the question 1, 3, 5, or 7 points as you''re turning in the answer based on how right you think it is. But you can only use each point value once per round. You also know the catagories at the start of the round, so you can say ''Well, we''re good at science, so hopefully we can give that question a high point value when it comes up.'' I love playing this way, but I''m a bit worried that it might be too confusing to explain to everyone after a few beers. So maybe we''ll just assign the point values ahead of time so that people just have to write down their answers and hand them in.

How are you structuring it? Are you giving prizes? I was thinking of a bottle of champagne for the winning table because I can''t think of anything better.

ETA: Now that I''m thinking about it, maybe it would be better placed between dinner courses? People will have already had lots of appetizers (they better, I''m paying for a ton!) so they shouldn''t be dying of hunger enough that they''ll care if they take 5 minutes to do some trivia. That way they''d already be sitting down and with their tables. I dunno ... what were you thinking?

ETA2: Oh, and thank you for your kind words! I particularly loved your Katamari invitations (my MOH loves that game, so I sent them to her too) so I think we have similar taste

Thanks for the kind words about our invites! YAY for video gamers!

I like the short rounds a lot. The bars we play at here in OH all do the standard Brit pub quiz (or at least claim to, hopefully the PS Brits will tell me if not), which means 8 rounds of 10 questions. It takes about an hour and a half to go through everything. We were thinking of either having 8 rounds of 6 questions or 6 rounds of 10 questions to keep it at an hour.

I also hadn''t thought about explaining the rules. I was thinking about putting it in the "program" (it is hard to explain what we are actually doing, but we are putting one "info booklet" at each table with the menu, information about all the beers on tap and drinks available, etc.) and then also explaining it before it starts.

We have thought about doing it during cocktail hour, between dinner and desert, and after eating and I have found pros and cons with each. If we do it during cocktail hour, it sets the tone of the evening, but people would have to do it at the set tables and would likely have to team with others at their table. If we do it between dinner and desert, it would probably take away our ability to visit each table, but wouldn''t interfere with dancing or mingling. If we do it after dinner, I am afraid it might make the transition into dancing harder (especially since we have to broadcast the OSU game to get FI''s family and our Buckeye grad school friends to come) but people will be good and liquored-up by then, and might have more fun with it. Hence, I am stuck without a decision.

As far as prizes go, we have been considering either more homebrew (we are giving everyone 2 as our favor). We also thought about gift cards to all of our favorite quick and cheap dining spots in the area, but, since about 80% of our guest list will be OOT, we don''t want them to be wasted or become obligations for people leaving town the next day.

I know it will be fun, though, and our guests will love it! As will yours!
