What does this mean?

It could mean:

1. When you have a cold you should eat a lot because it will reduce the fever.

2. When you have a cold you should eat a lot. When you have a fever starve yourself.

So, which is it?

I always thought it was #2 kenny!!!

#2 for sure. Do people get fevers with a cold?

I always go with feed a cold and feed a fever. Is that wrong?

With a fever you should always drink as much as possible to thwart dehydration. With a cold I eat a lot of spicy foods because they help unstuff my nose and I seem to get better faster. Maybe spicy chicken soup will satisfy the feed a cold and starve the fever (just leave out the noodles and chicken when you have a fever!)

Yay, copy and paste is my friend too

Myth.
Whether you remember it as "Feed a fever; starve a cold" or the other way around, it still doesn''t make a difference! This old wives'' tale doesn''t have a hint of truth to it. Only one thing is certain: Your body needs proper nutrition at all times. Also, while the typical cause of fever is the onset of infection, which may make your stomach queasy, you need to have plenty of liquids on hand to prevent dehydration. Try chicken soup and a glass of water for a nourishing, easily digestible meal.

I can never keep it straight. If I am hungry I eat, if not, I don''t.

Not as far as I''m concerned. It seems to work for me, too.
