Feedback on a 2.62 E SI2

bought like a true pro looks 100 % eye clean

careful about that stone being bought out from under you. I think thats a lot of stone for the price and if it's eyeclean to your eyes then you are good to go!

It really looks great!

Hi all. Thanks again for all your help. I'm blown away by this site and it's members. I can't tell you how much you all are aiding my wife and I in our quest to upgrade her/our engagement ring.

We originally found this diamond through a ring designer who would only sell us the stone if we bought a setting from them too. We werent ready to commit to the setting too, so we asked a local vendor to bring in the diamond for us, but for reasons unknown to us, this vendor couldn't/wouldn't get the diamond. Then we reached out to another vendor my wife had spoken with who was able to get the stone. That was Brittany at Solomom Brothers. She has been fantastic. My wife and I can be very demanding at times :o , but who isn't?? Also, our diamond criteria have changed as we learn more about these sparkly buggers. And I know it's frustrating to a vendor when a customer keeps changing their criteria.

Here's another look at the 2.62 E SI2 from Solomon Brothers:

For us, this diamond is eye clean. However, we have to ask ourself if it's "mind clean". Our visit yesterday to Whiteflash introduced us to A Cut Above. Awesome diamonds. But to get an ACA diamond we would have to reduce the carat size (cant reduce color) to accomodate our budget. So that's our question. What gives first? Size? Or ACA/BGS? The good news is we are in a great spot as their is no wrong choice. Either are beautiful diamonds. We have approx two weeks (Sol Bros return policy) to figure it out. I'll let y'all know how it turns out!!!

As always we love to get your input!!

Hi OP, from the photo the SB diamond looks great, very nice. How does it perform in different lighting conditions? My guess is very well. Go for a nice dinner out, restaurant lighting is generally fantastic for diamonds. I'm sure it's a flashlight in low light :D Can't wait to hear more about your impressions as you guys play with your new toy for a few days, lol. It's looks really big as a solitaire, but did you mention how you wanted to set it (should you keep it)?

It always comes down to priorities. To the person who values size the most, the larger stone will win. To those who value cut quality, they would rather have the smaller ACA. I have to have great cut, as well as good color and clarity, and then I get the largest stone with those specs that fits my budget. I don't think the 2.6 ct stone would be mind clean for me for cut or clarity. But I am sure there are many who'd choose it because of size.

Great advise. We do have some time to play with it. It is a beautiful diamond, it preforms great. However, when you put it right next to an ACA you can tell the difference in the light performance.

And you are exactly right, it comes down to priorities. And thank you for your candid feedback. The analytical nature of my mind tends to side with you, focus on cut/clarity/color then worry about size, but my wife is more a color/eye clean/size/cut kinda gal (in that order). However, seeing an ACA diamond in person may have swayed her....

Only time will tell, and as always, a woman reserves the right to change her mind at any point in time!! :saint: :saint:

Forgot to mention, we are looking at a 4 prong solitaire setting. Very simple, very classic.

I am glad you have that diamond safely locked down, I wouldn't want it to be grabbed out from under you and now it's out there, it could be. :((

I don't think you will make a wrong decision, for me, I would be just like your wife with wanting the biggest diamond. The question might be that yes, the stone isn't as brilliant and lively as an ACA but that's not surprising comparing a very well cut diamond to one cut with the maximum visual balance and beauty in mind. So is the E SI2 beautiful enough? Quite possibly, I think a few days getting to know the stone will answer that one, it will either steal your hearts or not. I would add that the E is going to compare extremely favourably with the majority of diamonds you might see, even among those worn by your peers possibly. Not everyone pays much attention to cut quality and this diamond is a very nice package I think, E colour, an SI2 you can check out at your leisure, big and well cut.

I hope the above helps!
