For Sale Feelers/advice from OEC fans - 3-4ct OEC pricing? sell myself or send it away?

I don’t have a specific price range in mind yet. I Just started researching comps online. If I consign it, I would have to pay for shipping, etc., plus ~15% of selling price. So, I would sell it for less if
I was avoiding that hassle and it was going directly to someone who planned to keep it.

I also second that you should keep this beauty because this is hard to come by and the price of oec will only continue to go up!

If you are sure that you won't keep it to wear as is, my advice is to send it to GIA before making any other decisions on it. While GIA doesn't report angles for Old cuts, they are still the primary preference of many buyers.

It will be a few weeks before you get the report back, but when you do, the world of possibilities opens up and you will be armed with details that assist your next steps, whether sale, trade in, or consign.

Just in case you don't know (I didn't read every post), I'd be sure to get that diamond insured before sending it anywhere, if it's not already.

Also, since you said you might buy a smaller stone with the proceeds, perhaps you'd want to seriously consider just keeping that one. There is typically a big difference between what you can get for a secondhand diamond as a private seller and the retail cost of a new diamond. So it might make better sense to just have that big beauty re-set into something you'd wear. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the tip. Yes, it’s insured and I’ll double up on insurance when/if I send it somewhere.

Believe me, it’s tempting. But I just don’t ever wear the several diamonds I already have, and it’s a shame to just store it for yet another few decades of no one enjoying it. I have two sons and two similarly sized diamonds to pass on to them, so it’s just not practical to keep. Plus, I live in the least flashy area ever and would feel very strange wearing such a rock. There is a good home out there somewhere.

There is no private messaging on PS. You'll have to make a listing on Diamondbistro or somewhere like that where you can put your
email.
