I don't know how to attach pics with an iPad if anyone does please let me know.
I am looking for an antique or repro filigree setting for my aquamarine, dimensions of the stone is 10.5 x 7.8 x 7.0 mm deep.
I'm thinking of getting something similar to this and taking out the centre stone and replace it with the aqua, will this work?
Or if anyone knows of other online vendors with similar settings please post it here.

Thanks.

Arkteia I am glad you posted the link to your beautiful ring, love how the prongs are embracing your stone, it seems like your stone is a natural part of the whole ring. :appl:

My aqua is not expensive so I am looking for an inexpensive setting, under 1000. Also not quite ready to do another custom project with my luck in commissioning jewelries.

Another option is Hugo Kohl's site - http://www.hugokohl.com/ - I haven't ordered from him though last year I exchanged several emails with him (very responsive vendor). He has a wide variety of antique-style filigree ring mountings though for safety and longevity I would recommend choosing a style with greater metal weight especially considering the size of your Aqua (beautiful!).

I believe antique cushions can be mounted in settings intended for emerald-cuts or ovals, but I would want a trusted jeweler to do the setting just in case tweaking was necessary.

Great post marymm, thank you.
Maybe I can get a silver setting and try out the filigree look.

I also found this one eBay but it's only 2.3 grams, and supposedly vintage. Do you know much about these types of settings?

The eBay vintage setting looks very pretty and in good condition.

LG - I do not know very much about these settings except the small amount of info I gleaned last year when I was investigating the style for a possible project.

I think that eBay setting you linked to looks like a very good prospect - 2.3 grams for a ring size 4.5 seems reasonable for a filigree style, and I'd think the rounded shoulders of the setting would very nicely frame the cushion shape of your Aqua - cost-wise it seems reasonable though since the vendor has had it since Dec 2011 I'd make a lower offer, plus the vendor does have an excellent return policy and top ratings.

The cast on the last link (kohl) isn't good. Looking at the middle profile picture, the setting is curved a little but looking at the last profile picture, the ring is totally off center.

Interesting site. It says they are from a collection of die casting material they collected. Some look nice and are very beautiful some look a little wonky. Because of that I had thought they were cast from old rings. But I guess they made their original cast from the antique dies and then made a reusable mold from there etc..

Chrono you are very observant, I probably don't want to spend the price for a white gold ring with a potential wonky shrank.
Erinl thanks for the link.
Still waiting to hear back from the eBay seller.
