Finally found my "holy grail" ...

Before I found this board...I never even knew what Chrysoberyl was...

Then I saw pics of some of the nicest ones on here, and there are a lot of nice ones! So I've been after one for a while! I am excited about this one.

Its from Madagascar, and is 3.83ct. Jeff Davies found it for me...I had been bothering him ever since I saw the one that he sold to Erinl. It has some inclusions, but the stone faces up pretty clean. The cut is pretty good, although I have to keep putting the "recut the step cut into a barion" thoughts out of my head-I dont want to mess up the color or inclusions becoming more visible. See, I don't have to have everything recut I am learning....Jeffs pic is first and mine are second.

I still can't believe my favorite stone is greenish-yellow. Go figure. Yeah, I said it...

The cut isn't perfect but the colour is. Yes, I wouldn't mess with this one as the cut is still far above average, it has the size and the colour. A wonderful stone, isn't it? Yours is more chartreuse, like mine, and if it is the same colour as antifreeze, you've got a great chrysoberyl.

Thanks for the compliments! Chrono should I try to do a pic with antifreeze next?? LOL. I know I need to leave the stone alone....so I am going to go against my nature of wanting everything perfectly cut (specifically barion-style) because I don't want to risk losing saturation OR making inclusions pop out.

We'll see about setting....what metal? that's a question for you guys, not me....

It's nice when you can share your new "finds" with people who "get' it. Trying to explain to non gem people why a yellow green chryso-wha? is and why its special just isn't the same.

I hope all us chryso owners set and wear our stones so we can show people that you don't need a diamond-sapphire-ruby-emerald to have something really special.
