Finally have this diamond for my girl...
(Although not the best pics, these do give some idea,)

A big 'THANK YOU' to everyone who has posted information on this site, that has helped educate me into finding a wonderful gem.

- Which is now mounted in a 2.8mm Tiffany style ring:

FYI;

It's a decent VS2,
D col,
56 table,
34.5 crown,
40.8 pav.
60.6 depth,
8.72 dia.
No F.

- and it sparkles like crazy!
Very happy with this...

- Now I just need a wedding band to pair with it - but one that flatters the diamond, rather than reduces it's impact - any ideas welcome!?

I bet that is one beautiful ring! Do you have any hand (anybody's hand) shots of it? Would love to see more pictures!

Does that mounting (I don't know who made it) come with a matching platinum band?

Congrats on a stunning choice!

No hand shot yet. I'll post that when I can.
- But worth investigating a matching band. Thanks!

That setting is similar to the Tiffany classic setting. Do you have any Tiffany stores near you to go look at bands? On their website, they picture this type of mounting with a matching band or a channel set band. Both looks are very pretty and keep the focus on the stone - where you want it to be!

What a gorgeous and huge stone!

Very nice! Hand shots when you get them!

What an amazing stone! D, 2-carat super-ideal is basically my Holy Grail. I'd be hugely grateful for hand shots after you propose!

Gorgeous ring!!! As far as the wedding band goes, you need to let her try on various styles with it to see what she likes best. I recommend Tiffany's for that purpose as they have many band styles that go with a traditional solitaire. Then if you find one but don't want to pay their prices, we can probably help you find a less expensive version.

breathtaking!

Absolutely beautiful, my favourite and the perfect size diamond - that is a forever ring. I would pair it with either a shared prong 10pt band or a Tiffany Legacy band.  Congratulations to you both :wavey:

Classic, elegant and oh so refined! :appl:

Gorgeous ring!

Gorgeous ring.

classic ring! it looks beautiful. Congrats!

Very pretty diamond! You did a wonderful job and I can't wait to see hand shots as well. I'd wait until you're engaged to choose the wedding band so that your SO can decide what style of w-band she'd like to pair with the e-ring. It's a personal choice and she'll enjoy being a part of the process.

Hi there,
The diamond did take a while to find. It scores 1.0 on the HCA. Although I thought the spread was good enough to take it lower, but it got in as a VG on that detail, whereas the other 3 points all scored EX. The diamond certainly displays nice Hearts/Arrows, and so it easily qualifies as an ideal stone. I expect that a Brian Gavin cut would actually have sharper H/A's, so would possibly be a candidate for a true 'super' ideal - but would you really notice it when mounted? Maybe just. But then you get to the point when the prongs effect light play too. This stone was certainly ideal enough for me, and the price was fair. I eventually sourced it through Diamond Source of Virginia. Denny Reinke is the main person to speak to. My experience with them was very positive. But, there are not a lot of diamonds out there of similar spec, so you might need to have degree of patience...

Wow! What an awesome diamond -- I have almost the exact same carat weight, but mine is a lot lower color... I'm truly envious of a D!!  Can't wait to see hand shots!!

GORGEOUS! LUCKY GIRL! :appl:
