finally have my ring (and i'm engaged!!) pics and ranting

i had it custom made by a known jewelry retail store...i'm not very happy with the craftsmanship so i'll probably have it re-made (i need recommendation ladies!!) in about 5 years but here is the good stuff (not good with taking pics):

2.7 BR
color G
VVS2
excellent cut (GIA)
no fluor

the side stones are 2 marquise with a round

i am thrilled about having my ring and my center stone BUT i'm not really happy with the ring. the jeweler picked the quality of the side stones and i feel like it's too "off" from the center stone. i know the side stones don't have to be the same quality but you can even tell in pictures. the prongs are not symmetric and the workmanship is lacking

i'm just settling for now b/c my fiance paid alot for this ring to be made but i will definitely have it re-made (into the same design) later on

i'm just sad i didn't find out about PS until recently...it would have helped me tremendously throughout the process

Really beautiful design! Is the center darker than the sides? Is it really obvious in real life?

the center stone isn't darker, i'm just not good at taking pics and i have no idea why it looks like that...
but yes the side stones are lacking even my friend noticed and she's oblivious

It's a beautiful design and a lovely size on your hand. Congratulations on your engagement - you'll certainly receive lots of helpful suggestions for stone replacements/prong work from the ladies on here when the timing is right.

Congratulations on your engagement! Your ring is beautiful and has a fantastic presence on your hand! I found PS after my first couple diamond purchases as well, but I think that if you believe that there is a craftsmanship issue that you and your fiancé should address them with the jeweler now rather than later, especially if there are prong issues that may affect the safety of your stones. You don't want to look down one day and see one missing! I don't see any obvious stone quality issues from the pics you posted but if there are some it may be less expensive to address it now than it would be to have the whole ring redone sometime down the road.

I totally agree with Christina: adress any issues now. There is probably a guarantee period.

Add me to the 'deal with it now' line of thinking. While it is still under their warranty or satisfaction guarantee, have them deal w the things that do not please you. Living with something you don't like, is just not worth it.

Otherwise- it does look lovely in the pics you posted!! Could the centre look dark because of a dark (black?) phone or camera or the cover to your phone? Kenny has suggested in the past to put a white piece of cardboard or paper infront of all but the lens. You could try that....

YOu can swap out the side stones and get the prongs fixed!! MIght this jeweler be hoping you buy your wedding band from him too?

Beautiful ring, congrats!! I definitely would go back to the jeweler to see what can be done to fix what you're not happy about. Now is the time - since you just got it, the jeweler will likely be more inclined to fix things now instead of later. And trust all of us who say that the issues you have with the ring will just continue to become more and more frustrating for you. You'll notice them all the time and you won't enjoy your ring like you should.

And regarding the center stone looking darker than the side stones, I'm pretty sure that's normal. It's just the way the camera is picking up the light, or something like that, and the larger center and smaller side stones aren't going to reflect light the same.

Can you try taking a couple clearer pictures of the ring, and perhaps your specific concerns?

Your ring is just lovely but I would in no way settle for it if I wasn't happy! I definitely agree that this is something that should be addressed now. Remakes are for new designs - not for 'fixing' something that was wrong in the first place.

Is it the color that is off? It's hard to tell from your pictures. Shapes other than the round center stone will present differently but the color should match and they should be well cut. Please don't settle for something you don't love!

It is a gorgeous ring and a beautiful design!! I love it - but I agree with others to have it fixed now to the point where you're at least happier with it - it is too pretty to have mixed emotions about!

thank you for all the replies~!! i definitely agree that i see the "flaws" of the ring every time i look at it. it's going to drive me crazy so i'll see what my jeweler can do
