Hi everyone, finally just ordered these two diamonds for a pair of stud earrings. Here are the specs:

Grading Report: AGSL GIA

Price: $1,707 $1,798

Carat weight: 0.63 0.63
Cut: Ideal Ideal
Colour: H H
Clarity: VS2 VS2
Depth %: 61.4% 61.1%
Table %: 55.0% 56.0%
Polish: Ideal Excellent
Symmetry: Ideal Excellent
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick Thin, Faceted
Culet: None None
Fluorescence: None Faint
Measurements: 5.50x 5.52x 3.38 mm 5.56x 5.54x 3.39 mm

These were ordered from Bluenile UK website, I couldn''t get crown and pavillion angles for both but just one (the one with the AGSL cert) which is 34.3 and 40.7 respectively, it scored .9 on HCA. The other diamond comes with a GIA cert and I don''t have the crown and pavillion angle info but I figured that they must be ok since these were paired up as ideal cut and the one with GIA cert has a better spread.

With 4 prong plat setting, the total comes up to $3755 (excluding VAT)- do you think that''s reasonable for TCW of 1.26? I originally wanted somewhere around 1.4-1.6 tcw but thought maybe I won''t see that much of a difference for the price jump. But now I wonder if I should change my order and get bigger ones like originally planned so that I won''t feel like needing to get another bigger pair later on.

What is everyone''s experience regarding the size issue? I do have the means to get bigger pair but not sure if I am ready to drop over $2000 more for a .35mm difference. How significant would the difference be visually?

Here are the specs for the bigger pair that I''m considering:

Grading Report: AGSL /GCAL AGSL /GCAL

Price: $2,976 $2,976

Carat weight: 0.77 0.77
Cut: Signature Round Signature Round
Colour: H H
Clarity: SI1 SI1
Depth %: 61.8% 61.9%
Table %: 57.0% 57.0%
Polish: Ideal Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal Ideal
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick, Faceted Thin to Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: Pointed Very Small
Fluorescence: Negligible Negligible
Measurements: 5.85x 5.87x 3.62 mm 5.84x 5.86x 3.62 mm

Crown angle: 34.7 34.7
Pavillion angle:40.7 40.7

These two both scored 1.2 on HCA.

I''ve always wanted a pair of noticeable studs (have really long dark hair that I usually have down) and finally am getting one, should I go as large as I can afford???

Thanks, I look forward to hearing everyone''s opinion/experiences.

WOW Hope, I think that is a REALLY nice size for your studs...should you go bigger? I am not sure...only you can answer that question. Maybe you should try on both sizes and see which you prefer. But, I think for everyday, that size is just perfect...

I think that''s a really nice size. I have 1 ctw studs that I paid $3800 for and I think they are a great everyday size. Sure bigger would be better, but as you say, there''s a big price hike for going bigger. Mine are G VS2 AGS graded diamonds, ~ .5 carat each. I''d wait and see how you like them when you get them. If you''re worried about wishing you''d gone bigger, you could always return them and buy from a vendor that has a trade-up policy.

I think that is a GREAT size! I agree with the others. I would go ahead and get those and wait to see how you feel later. You could always use the extra money for another piece of jewelry

I bought some this general size a couple of years ago, and my friend bought some about the same as the bigger size you are considering at the same time, both from Dirt Cheap Diamonds. Side by side we can see the difference. However, when we wear them, they look similar. She is taller/bigger than I am, and has larger ear lobes than I do. I think the .6x tw is a really nice everyday size for me (I lead a casual lifestyle), but if I was bigger, or had larger ear lobes (mine are very small), I would probably size up. This probably didn''t help. The way I finally decided what size was to go try them all on at a local store. I went to Tiffany''s so that I would be looking at well cut stoes, not the mall type since the sparkle will affect the overall look.

When I sorted it all out, I decided that cut was number one -- I really love the way they blaze away next to my face, color was number two, and clarity wasn''t important. Mine are Si2, and I can''t see anything in them and nobody else can either since they don''t examine them close up.

i would stay with the size you have ordered. do you have second holes?

if you have second holes, they will be perfect for a dangle earring in the first hole and a diamond stud in the second. I have been happy with the .25 ct in each ear this way.

i have .80 tcw studs and they are perfect for everyday use, as well as "glamming up" as I wore them on my wedding day. So your size at even larger to me is perfect! i agree maybe try them and see how they feel/look, or go to a jewelry store and browse sizes. I agree that its also a good idea to check trade up policy if you feel you may want to upgrade in the future.
