I''m trying to help a friend find this ring online but have had little luck. Any suggestions on a good place to look at vintage rings? Thanks for the help!

Just to clarify: your friend saved this image and is trying to figure out where he saw it, OR they''ve never seen it online and are trying to find something that approximates it?

RE: vintage rings, I would not call this design vintage in style, at all. It''s quite modern. Is that a separate question?

this is definitely not vintage; i think it was from zales or jared originally, it looks like their photography. they have some similar items if your friend is looking for something along those lines.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. He found this item at Kay for $1000 and was looking for a similar style from a less expensive source.

I didn''t see anything similar on Mondera or Blue Nile and don''t know a lot about where else to look. I''ve been searching around Google but have had little luck because its very unique. Just looking for tips on key words to search for, or websites that might help in the search.

Thanks for your comments, they''re much appreciated.

i found this at zales for $314 but if his girl has her heart set on a round she might not like a marquise. people tend to either love or hate them.

this is pretty similar at kay''s right now for $700

just FYI though, "vintage" does not always mean cheaper, in fact, a lot of the time it can be pricier! http://www.marleneharriscol.com/ has some nicely priced antique, vintage and estate items, but IMO if the girl picked that out and is looking for something more modern, probably older jewelry is not the way to go

for an under $1K budget, maybe she wants to consider a different center stone? a friend of mine and her SO are currently shopping garnets for her engagement ring and had also considered moissanite.

I have a feeling that your friend won''t be interested in this option, but it would be more than possible to do that custom with whiteflash.

Is it just the setting that''s $1k? Or setting and center stone (this is probably the case)? Did he ask about getting that setting with a smaller stone than he looked at?

I''m not encouraging you/him to go with Kay''s - hardly, as their quality is generally quite lacking and their prices inflated - I only suggest the above because if your friend attached to this specific style, it would probably be easier to try to make it work through them than to find it or have it made elsewhere.
