Well,I still have to ask one more question.I took a risk last night and persuaded my gf to try the finger size measure. She was nervous and uncooperative. So all I know is 3 too small. She can put on 4 but have to slow down to take it off.So 4 would be a little bit big.But how much difference is there between 3.5 and 3.75?
Thanks,guys!

Can you elaborate? What do you mean "She can put on 4 but have to slow down to take it off"? It''s difficult to tell you what size to get. I recommend going to a jeweler with your gf and they can help you determine what size to get.

well, what I can remember from the brief moment is that she can put on the size without any difficulty. When I was taking it off,I have to do it slowly otherwise it would get stuck at the first finger joint.I don''t want her to know I was trying to get her the e-ring.That is why it is so hard to get the size.

I went through a similar issue. It is hard to be discrete about ring size! Does your gf wear fashion rings on her ring finger? If so see if you can take one without her knowing and take it to a jewler and have it sized. Another trick is to trace the inside of the ring on paper or even make an imprint on a piece of bread or soap. Does she have a sister? If so have her discretely ask your gf what her ring size is. One last thing to remember: DO NOT GET THE RING TOO SMALL! When you present it to her she will want to wear it and show everyone she knows. She will not be able to do this if it is too small!

Good luck!

my jeweler told me that someone should easily be able to put it on, but it be more difficult to get it of. If you couldn''t easily pull off the 4, it was a little difficult, i wouldn''t go any smaller. I hate for my rings to be tight though.

Thanks for the reponse, guys! Well,my girl is the only child and she doesn''t wear any fashion ring on the ring finger,so the whole task is like mission impossible.I have spent so much time on these issues and now,I decided to give it up.I put the diamond on hold and gonna propose with a fake ring.I better wait until she says yes and then let her choose the settings,we can also go ahead to measure the size in store then. This is not a perfect solution but I don''t want to mess it up as I also don''t know how tight she would like her ring to be.But thanks a lot for all your advice!

I wouldn''t go smaller than a size 4 then. Proposing with a fake ring and letting her choose the setting sounds like a great plan!

I agree. My rings are easy to put on and have to go over the knuckle to get off. So I recommend the 4 as well.

One more thing to remember is that the ring will fit more snugly once a wedding band is worn with it.

Good plan!

Are you going with the mindclean VS1 or are you saving some money for the setting?

Please have an experienced person measure the finger. A ring size that small is more altered on a percentage basis by 1/4 size than a large finger size changes on say a 9 to 9.25 finger size.

Our stories are very simliar. I had to choose between F-VS2 and VS1 AGS0 diamonds, my finace''s finger was between 3.75 and 4 and I wouldn''t take the ring out of the house until it was insured.

Re finger size. The answer is that it varies. A 4 fit perfectly in Washington DC and California on my fiance but when she got back to Seattle, it became loose and a 3.75 would have been better. Water retention may also have a small effect on ring size.

A large diamond in a solitaire setting like yours will twist if the size is a bit too large. I have been told that a wedding band will reduce the twisting but she won''t get that for another year. She had her fingers professionally sized and it was similar to the plastic sizer from BN.

Re proposing without the engagement ring. I wouldn''t do it. The moment when she saw the ring for the first time is something I will remember forever. Give her an opportunity to stare at it endlessly from day 1 and show off the beautiful rock you have picked out by proposing with the real thing. Resizing is not a big deal. You can probably do it locally for a nominal fee.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this!I know my solution isn''t the best, but there is just no way to measure her finger size precisely without giving out the purpose. And as David pointed it out, finger size that small needs to be take good care of.And I don''t know what kind of setting she likes.

Anyway,if you don''t mind,would you tell which stone you choose?The VS1 or the VS2.Thanks a lot!
