Beautiful!

Spectacular!

I'm sure you can't wait to get it!

No I can't! Then I have to wait untill October. I am planning on proposing in Chicago. If anyone has any last minute info on Chi Town anything would be appreciated.

That is one pretty ring! :)

It is lovely! Congrats! please fill us in on the proposal story too!! I LOVE chicago, great town to pop the question!

looks great! I just ordered a ring from GOG. Is it normal for them to send you photos? thanks!

Lovely ring- your GF will love it! Also, I live in Chicago, so if I can help you with the proposal trip, let me know. :)

Lovely!

Can you remind us of the stats of the diamond? Is it a square H&A?

It's very pretty! I love their tiffany novo ring. What are the stats on the diamond (if you're okay with sharing)?

beautiful!

ETA from the picture caption it seems to be a 1.70 G VS1 SQHA. my 1.10 is jealous!

That is so kind...
Take this person up on their offer!!!!

Matthewmon - They didn't send any until I asked them for a couple. Darren responded within an hour with these.

paperumbrella - I would appreciate any help you could give maybe suggestions on places to go. We are going to be in town 8-10 of October. I was thinking of staying around the near north side. Is that a good area to find a hotel? Are there things to do at night there? I was also thinking of just taking her to see a bunch of things, like the art institue, the Aquarium, the planetarium. I am not sure what else, or if we should even go to navy pier. Is there anywhere else you would suggest. What would be some great places to eat at? She is kinda picky about food and will eat seafood and any vegtables, but not steak or chicken, so steak places are out :( Also, I was thinking of going to Buckingham fountain and maybe proposing there, but am not sure if it has been too much or what not, so any suggestions on that would be great. Neither of us have been to Chicago in awhile, so I'm not familar with everything. I hope this wasn't too long winded and I appreciate anyone chiming in.

I am booking a trip to Chicago right now FYI and hotels are relatively more expensive with the marathon in town. Just an FYI.

Hi Cushion! If I were you, I would probably stay right downtown so you can hop right on the El or easily walk to restaurants/shopping. I really like the Palmer House Hilton. It has a 1920's art-deco feel and a really gorgeous lobby. I think most of the rooms have also been recently renovated (although they are a bit on the small side, as it is an older hotel). If you are going for a more modern place, Trump Towers are new, and the Intercontinental is very nice and in a great location. I also like the W. As far as drinks, I would definitely check out one of the rooftop bars: Vertigo at the Dana Hotel, or Roof at the Wit Hotel (actually, this would be a great place to stay, too). Both of these places can get pretty packed on the weekend, but the views and atmosphere are amazing! The Signature Room at the top of the Hancock Building is a pretty standard place for Chicago proposals. I have never had dinner there, but I have heard that it is fairly average. But again, the views are AMAZING, and the drinks and desserts are great! Other yummy and romantic dinner places that I like are NoMI at the Park Hyatt Hotel on the Mag Mile; Tizi Melloul, which is really great Mediterranean food with fantastic decor; McCormick and Schmicks, which is known for seafood; Japonais has good sushi (not the best in the city, but the atmosphere makes up for it- if you like see-and-be-seen type places) and great drinks and has a nice patio on the river. There are so many good restaurants in Chicago, it's hard to narrow it down! For brunch, Orange, Toast, and Bongo Room are all really popular (Bongo Room serves the most decadent pancakes you can imagine- like dessert!).

As far as attractions, my favorites are the aquarium, Millenium Park (check out "The Bean"), and the Museum of Sci and Industry. I'm not a huge art appreciator (is that a word?!), but the "First Fridays" events at the Museum of Contemporary Art are a lot of fun (although that will be Oct 1). Personally, I would skip Navy Pier unless you love carnival-type attractions. Oh, and, surprisingly, the architectural boat tours are really interesting and fun. If it's nice out, I would recommend that.

Ok, I didn't intend on writing a novel!! Hope some of this is helpful. :)

Paper - Thank you so much for all the info. I am researching it now. I am glad you gave me a ton of options, I don't think we will go to Navy Pier. I think it's too turoisty... (don't think that's a word either). Again, thank you so much. I dunno if i want to propose in a place where everyone does, but want it to be a nice locale. Any other options or advice would be great. Thank you everyone!!!
