Larger VF's will return white light at times when smaller VF's are returning fire.
They also show quicker fire events. ie: they flash faster.

Could you please expand on this? It now sounds as if diamonds are equipped with a turbo-charger, making certain light-rays move at a higher speed. I am sure that is not what you are trying to say.

Does this still make sense if we do not consider the extraordinary starting-position of light entering perpendicular to the table?

Live long,
Even more so Paul.
Here is a strong off axis fire flash as seen in many of the pics in the thread above.

But does your choice now for light entering perpendicular to the crown make this statement more valid? This direction of light is just as extraordinary as the often-used perpendicular to the table.

Live long,
Many people have their hands in a position that produces that angle when looking at diamonds.
ceiling lighting or bright sky, hand tilted up.
Plus side lighting from lamps at home also strikes at off axis angles.

Forgive me, but even if it were the case that people automatically opt for that specific angle of the diamond versus light-source to look at their diamonds, is it not true that:
- if so, people will examine the diamond with the diamond in movement, thus changing that incidence of light,
- the often-mentioned charm of a diamond shows mostly when one is not intentionally paying attention to it, thus with more random lighting.

Live long,
