I was just wondering whether they came through with the wax yesterday as promised? If so, what''s the verdict? Did they get it right this time? Crossing my fingers for you...

I just returned from vacation and have been wondering the same thing. I''m on the edge of my seat . . . . .

The wax was not ready on Saturday...the owner is supposed to be picking it up on Monday, and since her store is closed Monday, I won''t see it till Tuesday.

Normally I''d be a little irritated, but I did change the basket, so he had to backtrack what he already had done on the wax without me knowing it. Till Tuesday...stay tuned...I''m on the edge of my seat too!! LOL

She is going right after work, so it will be a couple more hours. I''m on the edge of my seat again.

or maybe no news is good news

In this case, Diamondlil is unfortunately right (she should know, from her past experiences).... Actually, if there was ANY news I would have posted it...I went to the jewelry store yesterday straight from work and waited, waited - the wax wasn''t there. The store owner said she "could not make it" to pick up the wax herself on Monday as promised, so the designer was supposed to be delivering it to the store yesterday. I literally waited at the store 1 hour, 2 hours, because he was supposed to be there any minute. She kept calling him, no answer. She must have called him and paged him at least 25 times. No freaking answer. She kept apologizing and saying he swore it would be here today, and I was like, "Y''know, it''s NOT easy for me to plan my workday to be able to leave early to come here. (I''m a scientist...some experiments can NOT be rushed, nor do they always go like you expect them to.) I told her that it concerned me greatly that it appeared like he was avoiding her phone calls and that I was seriously concerned about this turning into another chain-jerking situation like we had before.

She told me that he knew she would be at the store very late, and that he was out delivering things to the local jewelry stores (hence why she knew he was coming). She said she would keep trying him and would stay at the store till about 10:30 pm since she had stuff to do anyway, and that if he got there with the wax she would drop it off at my house (I live 2 minutes away from the store.)

She called around 10:30 pm and said she talked to his sister, who said he was in a minor fender bender around 8-ish pm and that he was okay, but that''s why he never showed up. And never answered 25 phone calls? Maybe. I hate to sound callous, but it all seemed a little concocted to me. I think I''m just suspicious because there literally hasn''t been a deadline in this entire situation that has EVER been met. Still, if he was in a fender bender, then I''m glad he''s okay. So I can choke him. (oops, how''d that last comment get in there??!!) She''s supposed to be calling me today about the wax.

I did find out that he''s using CAD/CAM, unlike the first guy she was using for my ring. I told her that this knowledge made the fact that he''s been late on the wax even MORE ridiculous, since the MACHINE is carving it, and it doesn''t take a week. I''m sure he''s got other projects, but this one''s been going on since JANUARY. For f!!!ck''s sake. I can feel my blood boiling.

Ooooh, I''m sorry about all this FG! I am sending good peaceful thoughts and prayers your way! And I know what you mean about experiments - I''m a bio grad student, and sometimes, you just can''t get away from the lab until you''re done, whatever that means. This situation is getting pretty fishy... I hope they do everything in their power to keep your business, for their sake and yours!

FireGoddess --

I am so sorry to hear this. It''s absolutely ridiculous that they haven''t met one deadline since January. You are being very patient. I know how incredibly difficult it is to wait, especially if you feel like you are being jerked around. They sound almost entirely inept. I hope the wax comes today and that it was made to your exact specifications. If not, I say take your business elsewhere. Your time, money, and emotions are too valuable to be disregarded in this way. Good luck and keep us posted!!!! We''re all pulling for you.

Oh, i''m so sorry too. I know how disappointed and frustrated you must be. I hope when the wax comes it is perfect for you. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate the support. My friends' eyes glaze over when I start ranting about details...but they don't have the same appreciation for sparklies that we do. I thought, to cheer myself up, and to give you guys an idea of why I'm getting so impatient for this project to end, I would let you in on what I'm envisioning the ring to look like. These pictures that I'm about to post were all given to the jeweler in a collage with specific instructions (we're talking millimeter measurements!)...weeks ago.

I'm envisioning the shank to imitate cel'n'gee's ring, shown here 1.7mm with 1pt shared prong stones:

The halo to look like brownidgurl''s Tacori, shown here:

And the basket to look like this side view from what I think is a DCD micropave ring:

What do you think?

ooh, ps, I just saw that I''m an ideal rock as of yesterday. WOO HOO!!!

I''m so sorry for all you''re going thru!!

Ok, my 2 cents is that from my experiences that fender bender story is a crock of crap. If you can get your cash back I would; they have put you off and put you off FAR too many times

ETA:

I say this because it's the number one lie used to cover butt when something isn't done on time, done at all, etc. And from the track record of this place...it's VERY obvious to me that's exactly what's going on. Nothing is done, nothing happened, nothing.

The design sounds just beautiful. Let''s just hope they can replicate this....pronto!!!!

Firegoddess: GRRRR.... I''d want to choke him too. The first ring wasn''t what you wanted and now the big deadline mess. As JCD said, peaceful thoughts. The design of your ring sounds gorgeous. I can''t wait to see the finished product.

FG -- I hope this ring turns out the way you want! I hate to say it but your experience (and others on this board) have totally discouraged me from getting something custom. I just don''t have the kind of patience you do! It looks like it will be gorgeous!

What made you change your mind to begin with? I love your solitaire with your diamond band -- I''m going for a similar look with my eternity band.

FireGoddess your idea is great, now they just have to DO IT for you!

And.....we have wax.

I saw it tonight, and while it is definitely impossible to glean detailed info from the wax, it was enough to give the green light for metal casting. (!!!!!)

I will post wax pics tomorrow...can''t hook up my digicam to the computer I''m currently on.

Whewwwwwwwwwwww.

Still completely, freakishly nervous about how the final product will turn out, but progress is a GOOD thing!

Jellybean...

With regards to why I''m resetting the pear...I did, and still do love the eternity band/solitaire combo look. But I have been drooling over microsettings and halos for some time now. I actually entertained the idea of doing something else to the solitaire around Christmastime...the prong at the tip of the pear kept jabbing people and it was a time I was around many kids, and thought hmmm...maybe a bezel setting or low setting for the pear would be more practical. As it turned out, I did not like the bezel setting/low profile look for my pear at ALL, and so that idea went out the window. Just have to be more careful around others with my big ole pointy pear.
9.gif

I also felt that I absolutely adored my new stone (the pear was an upgrade from a smaller rb of lower color) and the solitaire made it stand out on its own, but didn''t really showcase it the way I wanted. And so the halo idea was without question the way I was gonna go. I also wanted a thinner e-ring shank, and felt that would accentuate the size and shape of the pear even more.

And so...a project was born.

This current project includes an entirely new wedding set...the e-ring with a matching band. I will wear my current Lucida half eternity ring as an anniversary band on my right hand...and will keep the solitaire setting that the pear came out of so that, later on, if say in a few years and years and years I acquire another diamond, I will likely set it in the solitaire so I can switch between the set I''m having made now, and the original half-eternity/solitaire combo.

And that''s all she wrote.

Wow Fire what a ride you have been on! I am glad that they finally came thru with a wax that could potentially be THE ring!!!! Did you say you took pics of the wax? If so can''t wait to see them and did they say aproximately how long till the ring is cast? I know their time frames mean nothing, but I can''t wait to see!!! Good luck, hopefully this time they get it right!

I''m so glad you are happy. You must be so excited and releived. how long did they say until it''s ready???

They didn''t actually tell me when it would be ready (and I didn''t ask, since I wouldn''t have believed the answer anyway)...but the plan is to cast the metal ring this weekend, so I would think that an April 15th deadline is more than fair. That''s my deadline, at least.

And now, wax pictures....drum roll...again, in the posts above are pictures of how I expect elements of the ring to look when finished, and those won''t be visible in the wax, but here they are anyway...
