I would do either of these if you can't do that. Pick EITHER a halo or baguettes. I would not combine the two into a frankenring. Also the pave on that halo you posted is the wrong style for you lady. She's going to want a brightcut pave with milgrain, not a french style. Do not pick the wrong type of pave, the BGD halo above has the right pave.

I see. Yes, that is a tight time frame for any vendor to do a custom design especially if they don't have the stone yet. Also, this is a crazy busy time for most jewelers/vendors because of valentine's day so that is probably part of it as well.

I think there are some exceptionally beautiful options that aren't custom at BGD and adding milgrain to a stock setting is a very nice way of adding some extra personality without going the full custom route. If you go with a stock setting I believe you can return/exchange it (in case she doesn't like it). If you modify a setting then it may be considered custom and won't be exchangeable/returnable. Just something to clarify.

Also, to your post about insurance, insure the stone once you've purchased it. Then ship it USPS (not UPS) REGISTERED mail to whoever is setting it. You will insure it to it's value and it's the safest way to send something of that value, regardless of your JM policy.
