Hi,

I am trying to decide between two round cut engagement rings for my girlfriend. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience buying diamonds.

Option A is 2.01 carats, H color, excellent cut, and VS1 clarity. Option B is 2.06 carats, H color, excellent cut, but VS2 clarity. Is it worth spending $2K more to go with Option A?

GIA? Do you think they are equally beautiful? Do you have report numbers?

As long as all factors are equal and the VS2 stone is eye-clean, I would go with stone 2 and save the $2000. VS2 stones are usually eye-clean but in a stone that large it might not be. Check with your vendor or see it in person to decide for yourself. If it is clean, I personally would not pay $2K for a feature that can't be seen.

You really haven't given us enough information to help you pick the right stone...depth, table, crown and pavilion angles would
Be a start.

If you are just talking about the clarity then if the VS 2 is eyeclean...I would not pay $2k more for the VS1.

Based upon the minimal info here- I'd save $2K and go VS2, provided the vendor you are purchasing thru, can guarantee you it is eye clean at 8".10".12".. what ever you pick.

But in all honesty, to get proper PS input, I think you are better to post the GIA cert info. You don't have enough info here for a proper assessment.

Thanks everyone for your advice. Does the following information help?

What do you think?

The first Ideal Scope, the H VS1 is better, should be shooting lots of fire. I like firey stones in the larger sizes. :lickout:
