This is my first post but I''ve lurked for some time trying to do some research. I know everyones got a different opinion and I''ve tried to gather some info on a combo like those below but didn''t find what I was looking for to get a better idea so here goes:

I''ve really fallen for the chunky august vintage look from GOG - it just seems so classic. I''ve got my eye on this diamond but am deathly afraid of a K colored stone and whether I''ll regret it in a few weeks or worse yet my fiance to be will be disappointed or a friend will make some comment on quality. Should I be worried with the warmer color?

Or should I pony up another grand and go with the smaller stone

General opinions on chunky cushions is also greatly appreciated if anyone has some insight.

As far as setting goes I would say I dislike 99.5% of those I see - personal preference being what it is.

Realizing that this setting is octagonal rather than square I still love the look tho I''m concerned about the rectangular shape that would be needed for the stones above.

Alternatively I''ve recently really come to like the Leon Mege settings below:

So ultimately I''m looking for some of the wonderful insight I''ve read here so far. If anyone has examples in pictures addressing similar scenarios like I''ve discussed above I''d be greatly appreciative. Does anyone have an idea what the Leon Mege settings above would run?

Thanks all!

Love the K cushion

I really think cushions look best in those off-white, ivory shades... what your FI-to-be thinks is much more important though!

It''ll definitely be a visible tint, esp. from the side - there''s no hiding it with the right coloured metal setting or anything, you''ll have to embrace it!

All your setting choices are beautiful, but I''m partial to the Leon... is there any difference besides the pave going ''round the band?

You need to find out from your fiance if she rather have size or color. I am really color sensitive and would rather have a smaller diamond over a warmer color. With that said, many people like the warmer colors especially in an antique cut.

http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/products/romanza - Honestly, not loving this setting for the AVC. This setting is made for an asscher and I find the edges too ridge for the elegance of the cushion.

I love these this Leon setting. The band looks like the Cartier Ballerine. My guess is that this setting is around $5000.

Get the I color. It may be smaller ct weight, but look at the mm dimensions. It is the same face up size as the K! I have owned a K color. Unless your gf or you have explicitly decided together that lower colors are something you love, I really would not suggest taking the chance. I did, and then six months later ended up trading for a G color because I did not like the tint. For the extra grand and the same face up size, the I is much safer.

I much prefer the leon. And since you want a halo setting it is another reason to go higher in color. The melee will be F/G color and would be noticably whiter than a K color cushion. Some people like this contrast, you need to decide if you are one of them.

Thanks Dreamer!

I would also go for the I colour if you are nervous concerning the K. The extra cost could be worth it to you.
